Veep: Julia Louis-Dreyfus reveals best Selina Meyer lines

From inanimate objects to hot-button political issues, HBO's Veep has funneled virtually every subject imaginable into razor-sharp jokes spouted by star Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The actress, who has won multiple Emmy awards for her portrayal of acid-tongued politician Selina Meyer on the HBO series, tells PEOPLE and EW editorial director Jess Cagle during the latest episode of The Jess Cagle Interview that, of the show's seemingly endless amount of memorable one-liners, she knows exactly which one is her favorite.

"First of all, they're going to have to bleep the whole thing," Louis-Dreyfus says, referencing the obscenity of the quote. "I loved saying, 'That's like using a croissant as a dildo, because it doesn't do the job, and it makes a f---ing mess.'...It's good, isn't it? You get the visual, and it's just bad."

The full NSFW quote, "That's like trying to use a croissant as a f---ing dildo. Let me be more clear: It doesn't do the job, and it makes a f---ing mess," occurs during an exchange between Meyer and her employees during "Nicknames," the fifth episode of the show's first season. It's uttered by an infuriated Meyer as she chastises a staff member, Dan (Reid Scott), for relying on the White House's dopey liaison, Jonah (Timothy Simons), for accurate political intel.

"I also liked calling Jonah 'Jolly Green Jizz Face,'" Louis-Dreyfus adds, telling Cagle she often improvises Meyer's dialogue, including that particular insult.

When Cagle probes her to reveal more of her favorite dialogue from the show, Louis-Dreyfus is quick to bring up a quote about abortions from Veep's third season. "I'm going to butcher this, but it was something like 'If men were in the position to get abortions, they'd be able to get them at ATMs.'"
