Something’s the matter with the Mad Hatter in two new clips from Alice Through the Looking Glass. Spoiler alert: he’s gone mad.

Mia Wasikowska returns as Alice, who tumbles back into Underland and finds it in chaos. In order to save her dearest friend, the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), she must face Time. As it turns out, Time is a he (played by Sacha Baron Cohen) and he complicates the matter at hand.

While the first clip features a small council of Underlandians, including Anne Hathaway’s White Queen, the second sees Alice meeting a younger version of the Hatter. “Alice, you seem to have time all mixed up,” he says as the titular heroine explains how they know each other.

Directed by James Bobin, Alice Through the Looking Glass is the sequel to Tim Burton’s colorful 2010 film. Helena Bonham Carter (the Red Queen), Michael Sheen (voice of the White Rabbit), and Stephen Fry (voice of the Cheshire Cat) also return to their roles, while the late Alan Rickman’s voice was used for the Caterpillar.

Alice Through the Looking Glass will hit theaters on May 27.
