Aquarius is pulling from the headlines.

David Duchovny’s 1960s crime drama kicked off at a time when Charles Manson seemed like just a nuisance with a cult. But this exclusive season 2 key art leaves no doubt as to where the cult leader is headed: LAPD detectives Hodiak (Duchovny) and Shafe (Grey Damon) are trapped between headlines detailing Sharon Tate’s 1969 murder on one side and a bloody “Helter Skelter” scrawl on the other. Manson (Gethin Anthony) looms in the smoggy Los Angeles background.

Aquarius follows the LAPD partners working to take down the soon-to-be infamous killer in a time of political upheaval. Hodiak and Manson’s paths look set to cross even more in the series’ second season; after the first season finale, showrunner John McNamara teased to EW, “I think we have a way for Sam Hodiak and Charles Manson to spend some quality time together.”

Emma Dumont, Michaela McManus, Brían F. O’Byrne, Chance Kelly, Ambyr Childers, Cameron Deane Stewart, Claire Holt, and Madisen Beaty also star.

Aquarius returns June 16 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC with an uninterrupted two-hour premiere.
