Castle ended Monday night after eight seasons, so creator Andrew W. Marlowe went on Twitter following the finale to thank the show’s stars and fans in multiple heartfelt tweets.

“Thank you to @NathanFillion for eight seasons of dedication, creativity, and leadership as #Castle. Can’t wait to see how you wow us next!” Marlowe wrote. “And a very special thanks to all the #Castle fans & especially @CastleTV for all your support over our 8 seasons. You made the ride a joy.”

News of the show’s cancellation broke May 12 soon after ABC announced that Stana Katic and Tamala Jones would not be returning for a ninth season. Katic thanked Castle‘s fans, cast, and crew in a handwritten note she posted on Twitter May 13: “Your devotion to our show have carried us for these unforgettable 8 seasons. I’m lucky to have met and worked with and for the lot of you.”

Fillion officially said goodbye in a tweet following the finale. “Well. That’s it. Thank you, everyone,” he wrote. “What an incredible journey. (Mic drop) Castle out.”
