James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke videos have become the hot spot for comedy gold. While the recent episode featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers delivered on the laughs, a more serious moment didn’t make it on air.

Anthony Kiedis, frontman to the rock group, told Radio X he saved an infant’s life while the group was filming The Late Late Show with James Corden segment.

The incident took place on a street corner where the musicians had engaged in a dance-off, Kiedis said. “A woman came out of her house holding a child saying, ‘My baby, my baby, my baby can’t breathe!’” relayed Kiedis. “The lady thrust the baby into my arms. The baby was not breathing.”

The performer, who has an 8-year-old son Everly Bear, said his fatherly instincts kicked in. “I tried to do a little baby CPR really quick,” he said. When the child’s mouth didn’t open, “I started rubbing the belly, bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place, the ambulance showed up, and I handed the baby over, who was now breathing and fine, and we went back to the Carpool Karaoke,” Kiedis said.

“When you’re a dad and somebody yells, ‘my baby’ you run across the street,” he added.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers segment of Carpool Karaoke currently has more than 10 million views on YouTube.
