Anton Yelchin: Like Crazy director remembers late actor

Like Crazy director Drake Doremus called Anton Yelchin, who died Sunday at age 27, “one of the most sincere but also funniest people I have ever met” in a statement to EW.

“He taught me what being a humble and hardworking artist is all about,” Doremus said. “Anton changed my life in so many ways, and I’ll never forget him. Everybody in the Like Crazy family wants to send their love to Anton’s family on this incredibly devastating day.”

Yelchin starred opposite Felicity Jones in 2011’s Like Crazy, which featured the two young actors playing a couple trying to stay together — and in love — despite multiple obstacles, including physical distance. Doremus and Ben York Jones wrote a outline for the film, but most of the dialogue was improvised by Yelchin and Jones.

“I’m devastated, a world without Anton is a lesser place,” Jones said in a statement to EW. “He touched everyone he met with his honesty and humanity. We have lost a unique and profound soul.”
