Young & Hungry: Gregg Sulkin teases guest appearance

Loud neighbors are the worst part of apartment living — and Gabi and Sofia get to experience that problem firsthand on Wednesday’s new episode of Young & Hungry. However, it’s not their next-door neighbor Yolanda creating a ruckus as fans might assume — it’s their upstairs neighbor Rick, played by Gregg Sulkin.

Sulkin — who has appeared on Freeform before as Wesley on Pretty Little Liars — says that Rick is a “wannabe rock star.” In addition to being loud, “his music is terrible,” Sulkin tells EW. So Sofia (Aimee Carrero) decides to confront him and ask him to keep the volume down. “Then she meets him,” Sulkin explains, “and is like, ‘Oh, you know what? You’re not too bad to look at. Maybe I’ll just deal with your music.’ So a friendship — and flirtation — begins.”

It was Sulkin’s first time working with Carrero (“She really commits, she’s really good, and she’s not afraid to make mistakes,” he says), but he’s a longtime friend of Emily Osment and a fan of the show. “I actually visited her on set when they first shot the pilot,” he says. “It was nice to be back … and work with them.”

But his character, Rick, didn’t get to interact with his favorite character, Yolanda (Kym Whitley), which might be a good reason for Sulkin to return.

Young & Hungry airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
