Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has found her next marvelous female lead.

House of Cards veteran Rachel Brosnahan has been cast in the title role of Sherman-Palladino’s Amazon dramedy pilot The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, EW has learned. The new series set in the 1950s follows Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel, a 25-year-old Jewish woman living in New York City. The married mother to two childrensoon finds herself at a crossroads in her life when her husband leaves her for another woman and she dreams of a career in stand-up comedy.

The Marvelous gig keeps Brosnahan in the Amazon family, as she has a major role in the streaming service’s upcoming Woody Allen series. The actress is best known for her portrayal of Rachel Posner on House of Cards, which earned her an Emmy nomination last year.

Sherman-Palladino, who is bringing her beloved series Gilmore Girls back in November to Netflix, wrote the pilot and will serve as an executive producer, alongside her husband, Daniel.

Deadline first reported the news.
