The Flash movie: Ray Fisher's Cyborg will appear in Ezra Miller superhero film

Looks like the Flash may be getting a giant, metallic helping hand from Cyborg.

The part-human, part-machine superhero will appear alongside Ezra Miller’s scarlet speedster in The Flash movie, a source familiar with the project tells EW.

It’s unknown how heavily the character, played by Ray Fisher, will feature in the DC Comics-inspired film’s plot, but it appears Warner Bros. is giving Cyborg a fair amount of screen time to lay the groundwork for a standalone movie slated for April 3, 2020.

Cyborg, whose real name is Victor Stone, will feature in next year’s Justice League and appeared in this spring’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, during which his origin story was shown. Stone was a promising young football player who lost his limbs and nearly lost his life in a science experiment gone wrong. In the film, his scientist father uses a piece of alien tech called a Mother Box to save his life — and imbue him with some superhuman abilities.

“I really wanted to show Cyborg’s birth because I feel like he plays such a strong part coming up, and I really wanted to give a sense of him,” Batman v Superman and Justice League director Zack Snyder told EW earlier this year. “I really want [the audience] to know how far he’s come.”

The Flash, which is directed by Rick Famuyiwa, also stars Kiersey Clemons and is due in theaters on March 16, 2018.
