In an age when seemingly every celebrity is on Twitter, Sean Penn was one of the final holdouts. But Stephen Colbert fixed that on Tuesday night.

Penn appeared on The Late Show to talk about his new audiobook, Bob Honey Who Do Stuff (written by Pappy Pariah), and his meeting with El Chapo earlier this year, and Colbert greeted him with a pre-made Twitter account.

“We signed you up,” Colbert said. “Would you like to make your first tweet right now? I could help.”

Colbert wrote out the tweet per Penn’s dictation and explained the nature of hashtags, but left it up to him to hit that all-important “send” button. Jon Batiste’s band provided a climactic drum roll, and boom, Penn had posted his first tweet. It remains to be seen if there will be any more.
