Scott Storch: Producer performs signature hits on the piano

Scott Storch still has it.

The producer, who crafted some of the biggest hits of the 2000s — namely 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop,” Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River,” and Beyoncé’s “Naughty Girl”— before retreating from the spotlight following a public battle with drugs and personal finances, took to Instagram this week to remind fans of his musical talents.

In the video, Storch lights a cigarette before launching into a piano-driven medley of hits he worked on, including Fat Joe’s Lil Wayne-assisted “Make It Rain,” “Still Dre” by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Eve and Gwen Stefani’s 2001 collaboration “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” and Beyoncé’s “Me, Myself, and I.”

Noticeably absent from Storch’s performance are renditions of Christina Aguilera’s “Fighter” and “Can’t Hold Us Down,” as the 42-year-old had a public falling-out with the pop superstar after he produced seven tracks on her fourth studio album, Stripped, in 2002.

Aguilera later released a Storch diss track, “F.U.S.S.,” on her 2006 album Back to Basics, in which she sings, “We wrote ‘Loving Me 4 Me,’ don’t walk away / ‘Can’t Hold Us Down’ all part of our history / Don’t forget ‘Infatuation,’ ‘I’m a Fighter’ / Feeling underappreciated / Yeah, this song is for you / to remind you / That I moved on, sang my songs / I’ve got no regrets.”

Storch filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2015, owing nearly $4.4 million to creditors after amassing a reported $70 million throughout his career in music. He previously filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2009.
