Megyn Kelly defended herself on CBS This Morning Wednesday, saying “sunlight is the best disinfectant” after fellow Fox News host Bill O’Reilly claimed her revealing memoir “makes my network look bad.”

The appearance came one day after O’Reilly dismissed Kelly’s book, Settle for More, on the morning news program, saying he’s “not interested” in Kelly’s claims that former Fox News boss Roger Ailes sexually harassed her at work. (Ailes, who has also been accused of harassment by former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson and additional women, on Monday denied Kelly’s allegations in her book.)

“I am not interested in this,” O’Reilly said Tuesday. “No, I mean, it’s over for me. I’m not interested in basically litigating something that is finished, that makes my network look bad.”

O’Reilly grew increasingly stern and slowed his speech as he continued answering CBS’ Norah O’Donnell’s question: “OK? I’m not interested in making my network look bad. At all. That doesn’t interest me one bit.”

On Wednesday, CBS’ Gayle King played O’Reilly’s clip for Kelly, whose show, The Kelly File, is the second most-watched program on the news network, right behind The O’Reilly Factor. “Then last night [O’Reilly] seemed to say, if you have a problem, go to human resources or leave the company,” said King.

“Well, I’ll say this: I am very proud of the fact that I discussed this with Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch before I wrote this chapter in my book,” said Kelly, mentioning the News Corp. mogul and his son, who stepped in to run Fox News after Ailes’ departure. “We were all on the same page that this was an important chapter to include, and I am proud of them, that they feel as I do, which is sunlight is the best disinfectant.”

O’Donnell followed up by asking about O’Reilly’s suggestion that Kelly was making Fox News look bad. Kelly replied, “I believe that Roger Ailes made the company look bad.”
