Ana Gasteyer believes in aliens

People of Earth is about a group of oddballs who believe they’ve been abducted by aliens, and while the premise sounds far-flung, star Ana Gasteyer doesn’t exactly think their theories are so out of this world.

“I do believe in extra-terrestrial life; I think it’s sort of absurd to think that there wouldn’t be any,” she says on the latest episode of Entertainment Weekly: The Show. “I mean, it’s kind of a big universe, right? I’m not sure that there are like, green people that want to take over the world or anything like that. But there’s definitely something, like a vibrating cube or something on another planet. It seems naïve to think that we’re the only intelligent life in the universe.”

Gasteyer stars in the new TBS sitcom as the group leader in a support group for people who believe they’ve been victims of alien abduction. Their world is shaken up when a journalist visits their small down to investigate their claims.

But just because Gasteyer believes we may not be alone, she won’t go so far as to say that alien abductions are anything worth worrying about.

“I don’t spend any time worrying about it,” she tells host Ricky Camilleri. “I mean, I guess if there was like, a man talking through the baby monitor I might take a moment, but generally, I’d be more afraid it’s a serial killer.”
