Connie Britton had to miss AHS Emmys reunion due to snowstorm

Britton's "Murder House" costar Dylan McDermott appeared onstage instead with Emmys host Anthony Anderson inside the Rubber Man suit.

Despite a previous announcement, the American Horror Story: Murder House reunion did not happen at the 2023 Emmys after all.

Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott, who starred on that first season of American Horror Story, were on the schedule for a mini reunion on Emmys night Monday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. However, McDermott appeared solo during the telecast, while ceremony host Anthony Anderson made an impromptu appearance as the man inside the Rubber Man body suit.

A rep for Britton tells EW that she needed to travel back early to New York for production on the TV miniseries Zero Day due to the forecasted snowstorm reported to hit the East Coast.

In Britton's absence, McDermott gave recognition to Ryan Murphy and Bryan Falchuk for making AHS into the success that it is today, and then acknowledged the Rubber Man lurking in the background of the stage set before announcing the award for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, which went to Steven Yeun in Beef.

"Dylan, I thought my butt was bigger til I was on this stage," Anderson said, revealing himself inside the Rubber Man suit.

After headlining the initial Murder House-themed season of Ryan Murphy's AHS anthology in 2011, the actors reprised their roles for the eighth season, AHS: Apocalypse. The sixth episode of that season, titled "Return to Murder House," saw the Harmon ghosts mingling with the season 3 Coven witches.

The Emmys planned a number of on-stage reunions among the pairings of presenters, including The Sopranos (Lorraine Bracco, Michael Imperioli), Martin (Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Carl Anthony Payne II, Tichina Arnold), and Ally McBeal (Calista Flockhart, Greg Germann, Peter MacNicol, Gil Bellows).
