Emmys 2015: Tony Hale wins best supporting actor in a comedy for Veep

Pull out the hypoallergenic tissues from your satchel and let it all out: Tony Hale is a repeat Emmy winner. The actor grabbed another trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Veep. He previously won in 2013.

“I just had a fear my zipper’s down,” the 44-year-old actor said when accepting his award. “Not only are these people so good at what they do, they are good people. At the end of the day that’s what matters, and I’m so grateful to them.”

Hale first cracked crowds up as the coddled baby of the Bluth family in Arrested Development. Gary, President Selina Meyer’s (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) bag man, must be related to Buster — albeit slightly more grown up, excessively into helping Selina on her every whim.

“He’ll do anything for his woman,” Hale told EW last year. “He’s a little too dedicated. He needs to gain some boundaries.”

Though a favorite, the category was still a tough one for Hale to bust in for the win. He bested two-time winner Ty Burrell as the goofy yet lovable dad in Modern Family, Tituss Burgess as the aspiring Broadway star in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Andre Braugher as a stoic police captain in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Adam Driver as the troubled but endearing beau in Girls, and Keegan-Michael Key as one of the two jack-of-all-trades of Key & Peele.

Veep has been a darling of the Emmys since its 2012 debut. In each year of eligibility, it’s been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. In addition, Louis-Dreyfus has raked in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series each year.

Another cast member, Anna Chlumsky, earned her first supporting actress nod this year.
