This one’s for the Girls. Peter Scolari, who plays the recently out gay father of Lena Dunham’s Hannah Horvath on Girls, picked up the Emmy nomination for guest actor in a comedy Thursday, after Veep actor Peter MacNicol was disqualified from the category.

On Wednesday, the Television Academy announced that MacNicol would not be appearing on the ballot because he appeared in half of Veep‘s season 5 episodes. The Emmy rule states that guest actors must appear in less than 50 percent of their series’ Emmy eligible episodes.

Scolari plays Tad Horvath on HBO’s Girls. In season 4, his character game out as gay, and his struggle to navigate his new life as an out gay man was the brunt of his storyline in this year’s season 5. He appeared in three of the season’s 10 episodes.

The other nominees for guest actor in a comedy are Martin Mull (Veep), Tracy Morgan (Saturday Night Live), Larry David (Saturday Night Live), Bob Newhart (The Big Bang Theory), and Bradley Whitford (Transparent).
