'Happy Endings,' Then and Now

On April 13, 2011, viewers first met the epic sixsome of Jane, Alex, Dave, Max, Brad, and Penny. Starring Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, Damon Wayns, Jr., and Casey Wilson, Happy Endings introduced fans to the gang of Chicago pals and all of their dysfunctional relationships, juicy history, and quotable catchphrases. The show ran on ABC for two years, coming to its untimely end in May 2013. But fret not, Happy Endings faithfuls, the six original stars are getting back together in Los Angeles this weekend thanks to EW's PopFest. The actors will reunite for a live table read of an entirely new episode, and will be joined by creator David Caspe at The Reef on Saturday. Eliza Coupe

Eliza Coupe found her spot in Happy Endings as Jane Kerkovich-Williams, the perfectionist wife to Brad and sister to Alex. Pictured above in her 2009 run on Scrubs as Dr. Denise Mahoney, Coupe landed her first roles in the mid-2000s. After appearing in a short, the actress hit the big screen in 2007's I Think I Love My Wife, going on to land roles in episodes of Flight of the Conchords, 12 Miles of Bad Road, Samantha Who?, and Community. She returned to film the year Happy Endings debuted, appearing in What's Your Number? alongside Anna Faris and Chris Evans.

Elisha Cuthbert

Elisha Cuthbert was the little sister to Coupe in Happy Endings. She signed on to play Alex Kerkovich, who was once engaged to Dave, only to leave him at the altar. Cuthbert took the role more than 10 years into her career. She made her acting debut in 1996, playing Megan in Are You Afraid of the Dark? (pictured above), and went on to earn credits for Airspeed, Old School, Love Actually, The Girl Next Door, House of Wax, The Quiet, Captivity, He Was a Quiet Man, and 24.

Zachary Knighton

Happy Endings found its Dave, the directionless ex-fiancé of Alex, in Zachary Knighton. Pictured above in 2004, the actor got his start in the early 2000s, popping up in TV movies, playing Mr. Rolly in Cherry Falls, and making cameos in episodes of Ed and Law & Order. Knighton expanded his résumé soon after, landing gigs in The Mudge Boy, The Prince and Me, Life on a Stick, The Hitcher, and Flashforward.

Adam Pally

Now perhaps best known as The Mindy Project's Peter Prentice, Adam Pally hit the small screen a few years prior in Happy Endings, playing the hilarious Max Blum. Pally picked up one of his first roles in 2008, playing the so-called Maverick Bully in an episode of The Colbert Report (pictured above). His other early projects include turns in Assassination of a High School President, Taking Woodstock, and Solitary Man.

Damon Wayans Jr.

Now stealing hearts as New Girl's Coach, Damon Wayans Jr. originally left the Fox show after its pilot to join Happy Endings as Brad Williams, Jane's businessman husband. The son of Damon Wayans, the star started acting as a teen, popping up in 1994's Blankman before joining his father's show, My Wife and Kids, for an eight-episode run as John. Pictured above in 2007, Wayans Jr.'s other early credits include Dance Flick and The Other Guys.

Casey Wilson

Casey Wilson was "amahzing" as Happy Endings' larger-than-life Penny Hartz. The actress got her start in the early 2000s, working with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and earning credits for episodes of Ed and The Very Funny Show. In 2008, she joined the cast of Saturday Night Live (pictured above), staying on the show through 2009.
