JULIE BOWEN: Cam spins and says ''Wow factor'' under two arcs of illuminated water

''The Wow Factor'' (season 4, episode 18)

''When we were just marking through the moments for camera and getting the lines right, I wasn't sure how Cam's monologue about an elaborate water feature at our 'flip' house was going to survive all the technical business. (Water! Lights! Goldfish! Freezing temperatures!) Suddenly, Eric [Stonestreet, who plays Cam] just did this turn on his heel like a dancer before delivering the big laugh line. He's always confident and able to capture tiny things that make Cam real and funny and heartbreaking. But this was one of those moments when Eric added a physical grace and a totally different tilt of his body. With a turn of his heel, the whole scene worked.

JESSE TYLER FERGUSON: Being stuck in the Spider-Man costume in the bathroom stall

''Halloween'' (season 2, episode 6)

''There are moments for each character that are kind of iconic thus far. Eric and the Fizbo outfit. And Ty [Burrell] and Julie as Clive and Juliana. And I feel like my iconic moment is me trapped in that stall in the Spider-Man costume. I remember laughing a lot because the set-up of this was so incredibly ridiculous and just really trying to capture that Spider-Man-in-action pose but really just trying to make sure that no one sees my feet underneath the stall?I'm a character actor and I've done musical theater, and there was a moment when I was crawling down the side of the building in a Spider-Man costume, and I was like, 'This is the closest I'm ever going to get to being a superhero — and it's awesome.'''

JULIE BOWEN: Claire's trench coat gets caught in the escalator

''My Funky Valentine'' (season 1, episode 15)

''That scene was one of the first times I truly felt like I belonged on the set. Please understand, this isn't false humility. I work with insanely talented people who amaze me with their comedic insights and timing every day. My career has been made up of ''crying girlfriend'' or ''finger-wagging girlfriend'' or just ''girlfriend.'' In that scene, I got to be physically stupid and awkward, and — god, I'm afraid to even suggest it — funny? It felt so good to be doing something so silly not just with the lines but with my whole body. It was just a perfectly dumb, perfectly realized comedy moment for me.''

''Halloween'' (season 2, episode 6)

''[It] was one of the hardest scenes to get through as a cast that we have ever shot. Every single one of us broke up laughing at some point. Sofia [Vergara's] horrendous 'American accent,' Ed's ridiculous Gargoyle outfit.... It was just too much. At one point Eric said, 'Guys, I really feel like we are making a classic episode of television right now.' ... If a classic episode is nine people laughing so hard they can barely speak, then we did indeed contribute to a classic.''

JESSE TYLER FERGUSON: Mitch finally gets a much-needed kiss

Mitch Haddad/ABC

''The Kiss'' (season 2, episode 2)

''We got a lot of heat in season 1 for not having enough PDA between Mitch and Cam. And I love that the writers didn't back down and say, 'Okay, well the audience wants them to kiss — let's just start having them kiss.' They didn't make the episode about this kiss between Mitch and Cam, they made it about Mitchell's issue with PDA and the fact that his dad never really showed him a lot of affection. And what I truly feel the kiss in the ''Kiss'' episode is about is the kiss between Mitch and Jay [Ed O'Neill]. Then in the background it happens between Mitch and Cam, and it's this thing, like, blink and you miss it. It wasn't shining a light on it. It wasn't saying, 'This is the episode where the two gay guys kiss!' It was done with a lot of class, and there was a lot of subtlety to it.''
