Mozart in the Jungle: Gael García Bernal video

Some people might consider giving an acceptance speech on live television in a room with A-list celebrities and industry personnel quite terrifying, but Gael García Bernal — who had to do exactly that when he took home Best Actor in a TV Comedy or Musical winner at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards — had his most nerve-wracking moment while filming a scene for Mozart in the Jungle.

“Conducting the L.A. Philharmonic was the most nervous I have ever been,” Bernal told EW andPEOPLE on Sunday’s Golden Globes red carpet. “More than my first kiss!”

The 37-year-old temporarily took the podium over the summer to film a scene for the Amazon streaming series, and said the musicians followed his direction closely. Despite leading the L.A. Philharmonic in Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and starring in a show revolving around the world of classical music, Bernal hopes to dive further into the genre.

“I haven’t even touched Bach,” he admitted. “There’s still a lot of things to discover.”
