Hugh Jackman sheds his Wolverine sideburns to celebrate as Deadpool 3 wraps filming: 'Time to shave'

Also, Dogpool has a bone to pick with Ryan Reynolds.

Filming on Marvel’s Deadpool 3 came to a standstill last year due to the 118-day-long SAG-AFTRA strike, which ended in November when the actors' guild struck a new deal with the American Motion Picture Association. After resuming production later that month, the superhero flick has finally wrapped filming — which means Jackman is free to shed the iconic Wolverine sideburns.

With no time to waste, the Logan actor celebrated on Wednesday with a time-lapse video of his long awaited haircut.

“What a ride! I’ve loved every minute of making this movie,” he captioned the Instagram post. “Well… not the 4a training or the steamed fish and veg 4 x a day for 6 months but the other 93.2%”

Jackman, who came out of Wolverine retirement to play the adamantium-clawed mutant in the sequel, also offered a collective thanks to the entire cast and crew. He continued by shouting out Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds and the film’s director, Shawn Levy.

“To two of my best mates @vancityreynolds and @slevydirect I literally couldn’t have done this without you,” he wrote. “LITERALLY! July 26th can’t come soon enough. Time to shave.”

Reynolds also celebrated the end of filming on social media — but since the Merc with a Mouth has no hair to shed, his post just featured an unexpected angle of his Deadpool suit.

“The suit hides blood. Also sweat… But today, with Deadpool wrapping, it’s mostly tears,” Reynolds captioned the crotch shot. “A giant and forever thanks to the cast and crew of our film who battled wind, rain, strikes and @thehughjackman… all under the stalwart leadership of @slevydirect. I got to make a movie with my closest pals and that doesn’t happen very often. See ya July 26th…”

Of course, Wolverine and Deadpool weren’t the only wrap party attendees. Their merch-friendly co-star also commemorated the occasion with a post on his socials. Yes, Dogpool has weighed in — and he has a bone to pick with a certain someone.

“That’s a wrap on my first movie,” the canine hero wrote on his official Instagram page. “We worked our pants off but it was worth it. Everyone on set was the utmost professional, especially Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman.”

After extending a thank you to the entire crew, Dogpool made reference to his single grievance, “I wouldn’t change a thing. Except maybe one person who was a little extra to deal with. But don’t worry, I’ve forgiven him. I even left him a very special warm, personal gift in his trailer.”

Deadpool 3 reunites Reynolds and Jackman in their Marvel roles for the first time since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It also marks the official marriage of the MCU and Fox's X-Men universe, as Marvel delves deeper into the multiverse. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film will return stars from the previous films, including Rob Delaney (Sugar Bear), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), and Stefan Kapicic (Colossus).

The Crown's Emma Corrin and Succession's Matthew Macfadyen have also joined the cast, while reports suggest Jennifer Garner is reprising her Elektra role from the 2005 film.

As the stars alluded, Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters April 26, 2024.
