Kamala Harris warns The View 'we should all be scared' of Donald Trump re-election

Harris said she's personally "scared as heck" that Trump could win the 2024 election and that Americans should fear "for the future of our children."

The View once again brought tidings of political doomsday to the Hot Topics table, as Vice President Kamala Harris became the latest figure of immense power to use the show's platform to warn Americans against the dangers of lifting up Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race.

Hillary Clinton, Chris Christie, and Liz Cheney joined the show in recent months cautioning that Trump's potential second presidency signaled the end of democracy as we know it. An admittedly "scared as heck" Harris took a seat at the table for an extended interview with all six View cohosts, and sounded the alarm about Trump's ongoing resurgence.

“We should all be scared," Harris said, adding that she and President Joe Biden have to "communicate what we have achieved" in office so far. "We don’t run away from something when we’re scared. We fight back against it, right? So many of us know when we’re scared for the future of our children, do we stay in bed with the cover over our heads? We can’t. This is where this election requires, rightly, that President Biden and I and all of us who are part of this administrations, we’ve got to earn re-election."

Harris gave the stern warning in response to panelist Joy Behar calling Trump and his supporters "crazies," and inquiring as to how the country can combat their rise.

The first female VP in American history continued to draw a line between the Biden administration and the circle of "chaos" encircling Trump.

“It’s going to be the choice between what is about respecting our democracy and competence versus chaos, versus someone who has called those who would attack our Capitol and try and undo the votes of millions of Americans in a presidential race and would dare to call people who committed acts of violence patriots, someone who would weaponize the Department of Justice, who glorifies those people who are running countries in a way that is about themselves and not the people," she said.

"I do believe that the American people are going to vote in favor of what is in the best interest of the future of our country and, in particular, our children," she continued. "It is about freedom and democracy, and also something I think is very basic, which is this: there’s a certain perversion being pushed by some folks that would suggest that the measure of your strength is based on who you beat down, when what I think most Americans believe and know is that the true measure of strength is based on who you lift up. It’s fundamental in that way."

Clinton, who lost to Trump amid the 2016 election, told the ladies of The View in November that Trump winning in 2024 would signal the "end of our country," while Cheney said that the public anointing Trump to office once again would be equal to "torching the Constitution."

Among The View cohosts, the show's conservative seat-holder Alyssa Farah Griffin — an ex-Trump White House communications team member — has also regularly spoken out against Trump since resigning from his administration in December 2020.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
