Whoopi Goldberg to make rare Friday appearance on The View as all 6 cohosts discuss Donald Trump verdict

The View is set to be a full situation room on Friday, as all six cohosts — including moderator Whoopi Goldberg, who typically has the day off — are set to sit at the Hot Topics table to break down Donald Trump's historic conviction on 34 felony counts.

The long-running ABC talk show announced the news Thursday on Instagram, hours after Trump was found guilty on all counts by the Manhattan jury overseeing his high-profile trial involving a scheme to fraudulently influence the results of the 2016 presidential election via hush-money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels after having sex with her. The verdict marks the first time a former U.S. president has been convicted of a crime.

Goldberg has sat out Friday episodes for years, with longtime panelist Joy Behar typically filling in for her as moderator on those days. Now, both Goldberg and Behar will join the table alongside other current cohosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and former Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin to break down the monumental legal development.

All six cohosts also recently sat at the table together in January, when they welcomed Vice President Kamala Harris to the program. During her conversation, Harris warned that the public "should all be scared" of a potential second-term Trump presidency.

Griffin, who worked on Trump's communications team starting in 2019, before resigning and speaking out against him in 2020, also reacted to Trump's conviction on social media and during an appearance on CNN.

"I think there's a world in which this benefits him," she cautiously observed Thursday night on the network, speculating that an upcoming Trump press conference has a likely foundation for problematic "talking points" that will sell the conviction as a "witch hunt" to his supporters.

"This is going to be largely from the political standpoint incumbent on Joe Biden to be able to counter-message and say why this mattered, why a convicted felon is not fit to be in office," she continued. "Somebody with a felony couldn't work in the West Wing, but you could be the President of the United States. It's crazy."

The other ladies of The View have long criticized Trump and his antics, both leading up to and after his election in 2016, through to his loss in the 2020 election and subsequent bid to return to the White House in recent months.

Goldberg even went so far as to pose the idea that Trump should be jailed at Guantanamo Bay — which was previously investigated for reported torture techniques — for his crimes.

The View also recently hosted actor Robert De Niro for an interview, during which the Oscar-winning star unloaded on Trump in a profanity-laden rant about the former president.

"It's almost like he wants to do the worst that he could possibly do to show this country..." De Niro said on the episode, before the show censored his next word. The audio briefly returned, with De Niro clearly saying that "his slogan should be" before his audio cut again, with the 80-year-old seemingly following it up with "f--- America" and "I want to f--- America." A representative for the actor confirming to Entertainment Weekly that the actor was censored as "he said 'f---’'a few times" on the live telecast.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
