Orlando Bloom shares behind-the-scenes Lord of the Rings photos

Orlando Bloom may not be taking the hobbits to Isengard, but he is taking us back to Middle-Earth.

This December marks 15 years since Frodo Baggins first set out from the Shire in Peter Jackson's film adaptation of The Fellowship of the Ring, and to celebrate the first Lord of the Rings film's anniversary, Legolas himself is sharing some behind-the-scenes photos from set.

On Monday, the official anniversary of the film's release, Bloom took to Instagram and Facebook to post more than a dozen photos. "15 years ago today, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring hit theaters," the former member of the fellowship wrote on Facebook. "And the rest, as you know, is history."

Bloom's photos are a fascinating collection of behind-the-scenes snaps, production photos, and candids, ranging from photos of Bloom in costume as Legolas to off-set surfing photos with Billy Boyd (Peregrin Took) and Dominic Monaghan (Meriadoc Brandybuck). There are also closeups of the prosthetic feet the hobbits had to wear, as well as snaps of Legolas' light blue contact lenses and Bloom practicing his elven archery skills.

Many of the photos show the film's stunt doubles, including the doubles for the four hobbits and Gimli the dwarf (played primarily by John Rhys-Davies), but they also feature a few familiar faces, including Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn).

Earlier this year, Bloom shared another throwback photo of the fellowship members getting matching tattoos near the end of filming Return of the King, including Ian McKellen, Mortensen, Wood, Sean Astin, and more.
