Rachel Bloom landed her first movie role since launching the Emmy-winning series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: The actress will join comedian Adam Pally in the dark comedy Most Likely to Murder, EW has confirmed.

In the film, Pally plays Billy. Once the the most popular kid in high school, he returns to his hometown 10 years later and finds his school crush dating the class outcast. Now uncool, Billy becomes obsessed with the death of the outcast’s mother, who he’s convinced was murdered.

Two of Bloom’s writing partners on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, penned the script, and Gregor will direct. Most Likely to Murder was picked up through Lionsgate Digital Studio, an in-house department headed by both film and television executives, which helped launch the Dimension 404 series and Dirty 30 film for Hulu.

“I am so excited for this,” Bloom tweeted of the film.

Bloom won a Golden Globe for her performance as Rebecca Bunch on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which also won two Emmys. Pally, having made a name for himself in the cult comedy Happy Endings, will be seen next on Making History, premiering March 10 at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox.

Deadline was the first to report the news.
