Wonder Woman: Gal Gadot's Fast & Furious costars are 'proud' of her

Fast & Furious preaches family. So when a family member took on an iconic role and led an already-beloved film to $103 million at the box office, the rest of the family was there to root her on.

On Monday, following Gal Gadot and Wonder Woman‘s monumental weekend, her former Fast & Furious costars Vin Diesel, Tyrese, and Luke Evans posted messages on social media praising the film’s success and saying they were “proud” of the actress.

Along with a picture of himself with Gadot, Diesel wrote on Instagram, “There are no words I can Say that can convey how proud I am of you… Your [record-]breaking weekend is nothing short of incredible. @gal_gadot All love.”

In his own Instagram post, Tyrese wrote, “Just woke up to the greatest news of all times – Last night I had to take the wifey and my daughter to go see #WonderWomen they made it pretty clear that if I didn’t take them I wasn’t going to sleep!! Of all things I’m so freakin proud of my girl and our #FastFamily @gal_gadot you have given so many women permission to be GREAT and to step into their fierce powers – Over 250 million WORLDWIDE debut – no one in the world deserves all of this love and energy but you!!! Congratulations lovey!!!! Keep flying we’re all so so so proud!!!!”

Also joining in on praising Gadot was Evans, who came aboard the series as villain Owen Shaw in Fast & Furious 6. The Beauty and the Beast star wrote on Twitter: “Saw #WonderWoman today and loved it! @GalGadot is fantastic — my kind of superhero!”

The trio followed in the footsteps of their Fast cohort Dwayne Johnson. The Baywatch star previously shared his excitement over the success of Wonder Woman by tweeting, “Great win for the biz. Fans loving the movie. So happy for my homegirl Gal! Awesome human.”

Gadot and director Patty Jenkins found another fan in the Fast family with Furious 7 filmmaker James Wan, who is part of their DC superhero family, too. The Aquaman director tweeted Saturday, “[Aquaman] prod rented out a whole theatre for WW & invited crew. What a magnificent film! @GalGadot @PattyJenks you’re an inspiration #WonderWomen.”

And while fellow Fast star Michelle Rodriguez didn’t make direct mention of Gadot, she did share her enthusiasm that a female-led film performed so well. She wrote on Twitter, “It’s quite sad that it’s taken Hollywood so long to make a Wonder Woman, 51% of the American population are women, this boxoffice is a vote.”

Model-turned-actress Gadot made her big-screen debut in 2009’s Fast & Furious, joining the cast as weapons expert Gisele. She became an integral part of the next two films, before being killed off in Fast & Furious 6. (Gadot also appeared in a deleted flashback scene in Furious 7.)

Wonder Woman, which also stars Chris Pine and Robin Wright, is now in theaters.
