Looking sharp!

From the impact its having on children to its influence at the box office and on social media, Wonder Woman is as inspiring and bulletproof as its hero. So it should come as no surprise that Diana (Gal Gadot) has inspired a double-edged fashion trend across the internet.

In one memorable scene in the new film, Wonder Woman conceals a sword, known as the “Godkiller,” in the back of her ball gown. Because she is both metaphorically and literally a goddess, Wonder Woman rocks the sword-in-dress look with ease, but the scene left many fans wondering just how feasible is it to hide a sword in a dress?

So, now they’ve started trying out the look for themselves and sharing it with the hashtag #WWGotYourBack. Women across the internet have launched this new weaponry-meets-evening wear fashion craze, trying it with everything from scimitars to katanas to rapiers. Some have waded into other franchises and tried to replicate the look with Thor’s hammer and lightsabers. One bride even got in on the trend, sharing a photo of herself with a sword concealed in the back of her wedding dress.

The look has also proved an inspiration to children, as well as mothers and daughters, with women of all ages sharing their chic sword styles. The hashtag #WWGotYourBack continues to feed Wonder Woman‘s message of unity and strength with its double meaning of the literal image of women’s backs and the notion that these women are there to support others.
