Ant-Man and the Wasp officially begins production

Superhero sequel will be released July 6, 2018

Production has begun on Marvel superhero sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp. The announcement came Tuesday via a video from Marvel Studios, which you can see above.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man, which starred Paul Rudd as the titular, shrinking superhero, as well as Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas. All three actors are returning for the new film which, like its predecessor, will be directed by Peyton Reed. Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Abby Ryder Fortson, Tip “T.I.” Harris, and David Dastmalchian also reprise their supporting roles. They will be joined by new cast members Walton Goggins, Randall Park, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, and Michelle Pfeiffer, who will play Janet van Dyne, the mother of Lilly’s character, Hope.

In the sequel, Rudd’s Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Douglas’ Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for release on July 6, 2018.
