Ryan Reynolds reveals first Deadpool 2 footage (in a Bob Ross spoof)

'Keep your pants dry, your dreams wet, and remember, hugs not drugs'

Tucked within the calming yet just as inappropriate spoof of famous TV painter Bob Ross was the first footage of Deadpool 2.

After walking fans through a painting of a rural home, Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with the Mouth declares, “All right, I’m gonna whack off again.” (The brushes…) Marring his work with red paint, he quite literally falls back out of frame to make way for the surprise reveal of the teaser for the official trailer.

Deadpool is back with his best gal, Vanessa (Morena Boccarin), and his best taxi driver, Dopinder (Karan Soni). Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) is still flipping the bird (albeit with a shiny new X-Men suit), the mutant Domino (Zazie Beetz) is busting down doors, the still unknown character of Julian Dennison (The Hunt for the Wilderpeople breakout) is setting things ablaze, and Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) is back for more too.

The action begins at the 1:30 mark in the video above.

Aside from the appearance of Domino and the film’s other big mutant newbie, Cable (Josh Brolin), plot details have been few and far between. Jack Kesy of The Strain is reported to play the new villain, but that’s pretty much it — until now! Twentieth Century Fox accompanied the trailer teaser with an official but playful plot synopsis:

After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2, which is being called UNTITLED DEADPOOL SEQUEL by Fox in its press release, will be unleashed in theaters on June 1, 2018. As Deadpool as Bob Ross remarks, “Keep your pants dry, your dreams wet, and remember, hugs not drugs.”
