Hear Alan Ruck's idea for an elderly Ferris Bueller sequel

Ferris Bueller could move on from red Ferraris to crimson scooters if Alan Ruck has his way.

The Succession star recently visited People TV's Couch Surfing for a deep dive into his past roles — including his memorable turn as the titular character's timid best friend in John Hughes' 1986 classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off starring Matthew Broderick, and the 64-year-old revealed his vision for a hilarious continuation of the film.

"There are always little rumors, and different writers will come up to [me] at parties or awards shows and say, 'I've got a great idea, and then you never hear anything more about it,'" he said. "Back in the day, John Hughes talked to Matthew briefly about maybe having Ferris go to college. I always thought they should wait until Matthew and I are in our 70s. Cameron's in a nursing home, and Ferris comes and breaks him out!"

Prior to that far-off dream, Ruck also unveiled plans to return to filming HBO's Succession very soon.

"We're going to start in New York right around the middle of November," said the actor.

Ruck is next set to appear in the upcoming horror comedy Freaky (out Nov. 13) opposite Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton.
