Every Day: Meet the actors playing Angourie Rice's body-switching love

Director Michael Sucsy knew early on that he wanted The Nice Guys' Angourie Rice for the starring role of Rhiannon in Every Day, the film based on David Levithan's popular YA novel. The character referred to as A was a bit more complicated. A isn't a typical romantic interest, but rather a soul that wakes up every day in someone else's body. Justice Smith as Justin

Rhiannon’s boyfriend, Justin (Justice Smith of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), prioritizes his friends and sports over her. So something seems off when he's all of a sudden attentive and ready to skip school for a blissful day at the beach. (Psst, it's 'cause it's really A.)

Jeni Ross as Amy

Amy (played by Jeni Ross from USA's Suits and NBC's Taken) shows up at Rhiannon’s school as a potential new student and asks specifically to shadow her.

Sean Jones as George

As the homeschooled George (Sean Jones from HBO's Fahrenheit 451), A tricks his mom into letting him go to the library to secretly meet with Rhiannon.

Karena Evans as Hannah

When Rhiannon kisses A in the locker room while the entity embodies Hannah (Mary Kills People's Karena Evans), she embraces the concept of loving someone despite their outward appearance.

Ian Alexander as Vic

Keeping the book in mind, Sucsy knew it was important to cast a trans actor in the role of Vic — and Ian Alexander from Netflix's The O.A. was that actor. Realizing their body doesn't always align with their mind, Vic further challenges Rhiannon to see the soul inside the person.

Jacob Batalon as James

Rice reunited with her Spider-Man: Homecoming costar for Every Day. Jacob Batalon plays James, the first person Rhiannon agrees to meet when she knows she's really meeting A.

Hannah Alissa Richardon as Katie

Waking up one morning as Katie (2nd Generation's Hannah Alissa Richardson), A heads to New York City determined to start fresh.

Nicole Law as Kelsey

Rhiannon convinces A to help Kelsey (Shadowhunters' Nicole Law) when she's going through a rough patch.

Rory McDonald as David

A rift begins to form between A and Rhiannon when A wakes up as David (Rory McDonald), who is blind.

Katie Douglas as Megan

“I don’t think of it inherently as a gay story, but there are times where I would explain whether I’m talking to the editor or the composer or the actor… and I was like, it’s A’s coming-out story,” Sucsy said of Every Day. “A has never shared any of these stories before so it’s like coming out and you’re taking a risk.” A takes this risk as Megan (Eyewitness' Katie Douglas), who confesses to Rhiannon about all the body-swapping that's been happening.

Jake Sim as Michael

A has to act fast to remain with Rhiannon when waking up as Michael (Jake Sim of It), who is about to board a flight.

Lucas Jade Zumann as Nathan

Lucas Jade Zumann (Netflix's Anne with an E) plays Nathan, who's not like the other kids. Conservative and religious, he's the only one that seems to realize that someone else had inhabited his body.

Owen Teague as Alexander

After appearing in It and Netflix's Bloodline, Owen Teague now plays another vessel of A's: Alexander, one of Rhiannon’s classmates who sees the world in a positive light — and may or may not be crushing on Rhiannon.

Colin Ford as Xavier

Supernatural and Under the Dome heartthrob Colin Ford plays Xavier, someone even Rhiannon’s sassy sister can approve of. He and the rest of the cast will debut Every Day in theaters beginning Feb. 23.
