Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese's three-and-a-half hour epic based on David Grann's bestselling book, depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation. Starring Lily Gladstone as well as Scorsese's two most frequent collaborators Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, the film opened with $23 million domestically.

However, Killers took the top spot internationally with another $21 million, for a global debut of $44 million, just ahead of Eras' $41.5 million global weekend haul.

In a well-timed return to theaters, the Halloween classic, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas grossed $4.1 million to take the fifth spot at this weekend's box office. Directed by Henry Selick, Nightmare originally premiered in 1993 and was a modest hit, earning $50 million in its original run. However, subsequent re-releases over the years have brought its box office to $95.3 million.
