Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert lead 52nd annual ACM Awards nominations

Keith Urban may not have taken home any hardware at last week’s Grammy Awards, but he’ll have another chance to collect some wins in April. The 49-year-old leads the pack of nominees at the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards with seven, including his seventh run at the coveted Entertainer of the Year title and his 10th nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year. He earned two nods in the Album of the Year category, for artist and producer, for his latest release, Ripcord. He also received two nominations for Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year, also for artist and producer, for “Blue Ain’t Your Color.”

Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert quickly follow Urban with six nominations each. Both are nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year; surprisingly, neither are up for Entertainer of the Year. Morris’ breakout tune, “My Church,” also earned a nod in the Single Record of the Year category (she doubles-down on the award with credits as an artist and a producer) while Lambert’s “Vice” is up for Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year. (She earns two nominations on the Song of the Year ballot, also as an artist and producer.)

Leading the group nominations, Florida Georgia Line found their name in five categories Thursday morning, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year, which they won in 2016. They are also up for Album of the Year for their third LP, Dig Your Roots, Single Record of the Year for “H.O.L.Y.,” and Vocal Event of the Year for their team-up with Tim McGraw on “May We All.”

Speaking of Mr. Faith Hill, the 16-time winner also received five nominations this year. Along with his FGL-duet, he earned two in the Single Record of the Year category, as artist and producer, for the Lori McKenna-penned “Humble and Kind.” That cut is also up for Song of the Year and Video of the Year.

Co-host of the ceremony Dierks Bentley, Chris Stapleton, and Thomas Rhett each earned three nods. All are up for Male Vocalist of the Year while Bentley’s Black is up for Album of the Year and his duet with Elle King, “Different for Girls,” is up for Vocal Event of the Year. This is Rhett’s first year on the Male Vocalist ballot; he is also nominated twice, as an artist and songwriter for Song of the Year for “Die a Happy Man.” (That tune earned Rhett an ACM already last year: Single Record of the Year.) Stapleton’s banner season from Traveller continues. Along with Male Vocalist — for which he should be an easy favorite — he is also nominated for Song of the Year (“Tennessee Whiskey“) and Video of the Year (“Fire Away“).
