Lana Del Rey just dropped a retro-style music video Monday for the eponymous second single off her upcoming album Lust for Life that includes her cozying up to the Weeknd atop a California landmark.
After a space-age opening, Del Rey takes it back with grainy footage and a brief presentation with backup dancers on platforms evoking the Supremes. Then, she’s transported to a starry night over Los Angeles, where she climbs up on the H of the Hollywood sign — and into the arms of the Weeknd.
After some canoodling and a freeform slide down the D of the famous sign, the two lie in a grassy field as the song ends. Finally, the camera zooms out to reveal the planet as a whole, subtly made to look like a peace sign (this is surely a nod to Del Rey’s sentiments about the state of the world these days, as she expressed on Instagram last month after Coachella).
