DJ Khaled reveals details of 'humongous' Rihanna collab, 'Wild Thoughts'

DJ Khaled has already shared three songs off his star-studded 10th album, Grateful: “Shining,” featuring Jay Z and Beyoncé; “To the Max,” featuring Drake; and “I’m the One,” his collaboration with Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne that hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 in May. But he may be releasing the project’s most anticipated song tomorrow.

“This Friday, we’re going to give you the video and the song” for “Wild Thoughts,” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, the producer and media mogul told Entertainment Weekly: The Show on Thursday. “And it’s going to be humongous. It’s going to be incredible.” Added Khaled: “I want everybody to know this: Be ready — because it’s gonna be one of those.”

Despite releasing albums loaded with members of the hip-hop and R&B A-lists for the last decade, “Wild Thoughts” marks Khaled’s first collaboration with Rihanna. “Seven, eight years I’ve been trying to do this,” he said. “I always put the kites out there that I wanted to work with her. But at the same time, while I was putting the kites out there, I was always getting the right record ready. You’ve gotta start with the right energy to see if something comes back that’s possible.”

Khaled dished about his ambitious, 23-track album in the latest issue of EW as well. “Every artist I work with is already great,” he said. “I want to bring more greatness out of them.”

And Khaled attributes Grateful‘s high quality to his 8-month-old son, Asahd, who is listed as executive producer. “He’s the reason all of this magic is happening,” Khaled explained. “He had a chance to be in the studio with some of the artists, and some of them he FaceTimed with. When I would do records, they’d all say, ‘This is for Asahd.’ I didn’t tell them to say that! That’s the energy my son is bringing.”
