Reacher will go undercover in season 3, based on Lee Child book Persuader

Maria Sten will reprise her role as Neagley, once joining Alan Ritchson's titular hero.

Who needs an adaptation that goes in chronological order? Reacher will continue to jump around in author Lee Child's source material when it returns for season 3.

Prime Video's bone-crunching TV series will tackle the seventh Jack Reacher novel, Persuader, next season. While the first season adapted Child's debut novel, Killing Floor, season 2 jumped ahead to the 11th book, Bad Luck and Trouble.

Season 3 of Reacher will find Alan Ritchson's titular tough guy — the massive, nomadic ex-military police investigator who's always righting wrongs — going undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past. In the book, Jack teams up unofficially with the DEA to take down a drug smuggler by gaining his trust through the criminal's family. But things get complicated when he discovers a personal tie to the operation of which he can't let go.

"Persuader's one of the best books there is," Ritchson said in an Instagram video Wednesday. "Can't wait for you to see this season."

Along with Ritchson, Maria Sten (Swamp Thing) will also return for season 3, reprising her role as Reacher's sharp-witted military buddy Frances Neagley. She previously appeared in seasons 1 and 2.

Reacher was renewed for season 3 in December and is currently filming in Toronto.
