Jack Ryan follows the money in new teaser

Plus: A new trailer will be revealed at New York Comic Con in October

Follow the money — that’s the lesson in the new teaser for Amazon’s forthcoming series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.

As has been the case in all of the teasers released up until this point, star John Krasinski, who plays the titular CIA analyst, is noticeably absent in the teaser. Instead, we’re treated to a promo that chronicles the journey of a conspicuous $10 bill with a smiley face on it from the hands of a little girl to a group of terrorists. Based on the show’s logline, which you can read below, money will play a big role in the 10-episode first season.

“When CIA analyst Jack Ryan stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers his search for answers pulls him from the safety of his desk job and catapults him into a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the US and her allies,” it reads.

The 48-second teaser also includes one more bit of information for Jack Ryan fans: A new teaser trailer will be revealed at the show’s New York Comic Con panel (Oct. 7 at 5:30 p.m. ET), which will feature executive producer and showrunner Carlton Cuse, Krasinski (who is also executive-producing), and cast members Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and Abbie Cornish (Limitless).

At this point, Tom Clancy’s creation has appeared in several books and five movies; however, Krasinski told EW last December that he thinks bringing Jack Ryan to television will open up new avenues for the character.

“I think thanks to the popularity of long-form television, you can take a book that is so beloved or a literary character that is so beloved and actually spend as much time as you would with a book, instead of jamming it into a two-hour movie,” he said. “You actually get to spend time with him over a long period of time and watch him sort of figure things out because his superpower is his brain. And so in two hours, it’s hard to solve puzzles and get the bad guys. So now we get to do it in a series.”

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will be available to stream on Amazon in 2018.
