Psych: The Movie premiere date set, John Cena cameo confirmed

Psych: The Movie‘s premiere date has been revealed!

The highly anticipated holiday movie will air Dec. 7 on USA Network, star Dulé Hill announced via a video message shown at New York Comic Con on Saturday. However, that wasn’t the only big news we learned today.

During the panel, fans were treated to the first 20 minutes of the movie, which revealed that John Cena would make a special appearance in the two-hour film. In the original series, Cena played Juliet O’Hara’s (Maggie Lawson) super-spy brother Ewan. Although creator Steve Franks and star James Roday wouldn’t tell us when Cena appears in the movie, they promised it wouldn’t disappoint.

“He appears as Ewan O’Hara, and he’s absolutely pivotal to the trajectory of where this could potentially go,” Roday told EW after the panel.

Franks added, “You will stand up from your couch and just start applauding the moment he comes in, because he’s so good.”

Written by Franks and Roday, Psych: The Movie reunites the entire cast for an adventure in San Francisco that pits them against the fiendish Thin White Duke, played by Zachary Levi. It also stars returning cast-members Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, and Kurt Fuller. Timothy Omundson, who played Detective Carlton Lassiter and is currently recovering from a stroke, will make an appearance in the movie, too.

Psych: The Movie premieres Wednesday, Dec. 7 on USA Network.
