Fall TV pilots 2018: The full list

Will the five broadcast networks find the next big thing this year?

While there’s a good chance you’ll never see most of what lies ahead, ABC, CBS, The CW, Fox, and NBC are on the precipice of deciding the fates of more than 70 pilots in contention for the 2018-19 television season.

Ahead of the frenzy that is upfronts, EW has compiled a complete list of every single potential show in contention, including reboots of Charmed and Roswell on The CW as well as Magnum P.I. and Cagney and Lacey on CBS, the return of Murphy Brown, Nathan Fillion’s ABC homecoming on The Rookie, and projects featuring Once Upon a Time stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas and Rebecca Mader, and soon-to-be Scandal alums Bellamy Young, Joe Morton, and Scott Foley.

DRAMA

A Million Little Things
A dramedy about a group of friends who, for different reasons and in different ways, are all stuck in their lives, but when one of them dies unexpectedly, it���s just the wake-up call the others need to finally start living.
Team: DJ Nash will write and executive produce with Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor. James Griffiths will direct the pilot.

False Profits
The project follows a team of down-and-out women in suburban Arizona as they fight their way to the top of the cutthroat world of a multi-level marketing cosmetics business.
Team: Kayla Alpert will write and executive produce with Jason Reed and Sabrina Wind. J. Miller Tobin will direct the pilot.
Cast: Bellamy Young, Shelley Hennig, Vanessa Williams, Kosha Patel, Kapil Talwalkar, Mark L. Young, Ben Lawson, and Marcus Coloma.

The Fix
After losing the biggest case of her career and being shredded by the media, former prosecutor Maya Travis (Robin Tunney) leaves Los Angeles for a quiet life in rural Oregon. Eight years after her devastating defeat, the murderer strikes again, forcing Maya to return to Los Angeles to confront him one more time. Will she play by the rules, or will she do whatever it takes to get him behind bars?
Team: Elizabeth Craft, Sarah Fain, and Marcia Clark will write and executive produce with David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, and Laurie Zaks. Larysa Kondracki will direct the pilot.

For Love
Five years ago, Hope Castille’s (Lex Scott Davis) fiancé was killed. This morning, she received a phone call from him. An epic love triangle set against a grounded, secret world of magic in present-day New Orleans.
Team: Michael Cooney will write and executive produce with Kim Moses. John Dahl will direct the pilot.
Cast: Lex Scott Davis, Ethan Peck, Luke Arnold, Jon Ecker, Isabella Russo, Rachel Skarsten, Chloe Wepper, and Wole Parks.

Get Christie Love
Inspired by the revolutionary TV movie and subsequent series that aired on ABC in the 1970s, the project is an action-packed, music-driven drama that centers on Christie Love (Kylie Bunbury), an African-American female CIA agent who leads an elite ops unit. She transforms into whomever she needs to be to get the job done, especially when it’s down to the wire and the stakes are life and death. The high-adrenaline missions of the series are anchored by an emotional mystery about Christie’s first love — unearthing the truth about this relationship will be the biggest mission impossible of her life.
Team: Courtney A. Kemp will write and executive produce with Vin Diesel and Debra Martin Chase. Stephen Williams will direct the pilot.

Grand Hotel
Based on the Spanish format, the project is a soapy drama set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza (Demian Bichir) owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi (Roselyn Sanchez), and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel’s loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt, and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior.
Team: Brian Tanen will write and executive produce with Eva Longoria, Ben Spector, Ramon Campos, and Teresa Fernandez-Valdes. Ken Olin will direct the pilot.

The Mission
When a San Francisco police captain is arrested for corruption, the lives of the cops under his command don’t stop. The ensemble must navigate their own colorful and complicated lives, both on and off the beat, while focusing on a local gang about to make the streets more dangerous and an armed criminal who is on the loose.
Team: Jason Richman will write and executive produce with David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, and Laurie Zaks. Michael Offer will direct the pilot.

The Rookie (straight to series)
At an age where most are at the peak of their career, John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) casts aside his comfortable, small-town life and moves to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop. Now, surrounded by rookies 20 years his junior, Nolan must navigate the dangerous, humorous, and unpredictable world of a “young” cop, determined to make his second shot at life count.
Team: Alexi Hawley will write and executive produce with Fillion, Mark Gordon, Nicholas Pepper, Michelle Chapman, and Jon Steinberg. Liz Friedlander will direct the pilot.

Salvage
Ex-cop Jimmy Hill (Toby Kebbel) just wants to be left alone after moving back to his small Gulf Coast hometown in Florida. But when there’s a suspicious drowning, an idealistic deputy (Catalina Sandino Moreno) draws him into the case that she’s been stopped from solving. The stakes are raised when Jimmy finds a connection between the mysterious death and the sunken Spanish treasure that Jimmy, his father (Will Patton), and other fortune seekers have been trying to find for decades. If the gold is within reach, taking on the case will pit him against the powerful town patriarch (Jim Belushi), outside criminals, and his own father.

Staties
After being unceremoniously fired by the NYPD, Detective Eliza Reyes (Annie Ilonzeh) arrives in Marshfield, Oregon, a town nestled in the forests and beaches of the glorious Pacific Northwest. But it’s anything but glorious to Eliza, who has taken a humiliating step down from her former job where she blew up a city block after disobeying the direct orders of her boss. Now forced to wear a uniform that bears a striking resemblance to Dudley Do-Right, Eliza has joined the Staties, a.k.a. the Oregon State Police, the primary law enforcement organization in the state. Her partner, Sam Knight, is an eccentric cop who talks to trees and sees creatures where they don’t exist. The good news is that they help him solve crimes.
Team: Matt Partney and Corey Evett will write and executive produce with Michael Seitzman, Christina Davis, and Rob Bowman, who will direct the pilot.

Take Two (straight to series)
Fresh out of rehab, the former star (Rachel Bilson) of a hit cop series is desperate to restart her career, talking her way into shadowing a rough-and-tumble private investigator (Eddie Cibrian) for a potential comeback role. Though he resents the babysitting gig, she proves herself to be surprisingly valuable, leading to an influx of new clients.
Team: Andrew Marlowe and Terri Edda Miller will write and executive produce with Rola Bauer and Tim Halkin. John Terlesky directed the pilot.
Cast: Rachel Bilson, Eddie Cibrian, Aliyah O’Brien, Alice Lee, Xavier de Guzman.

Untitled Holmes Sisters Project
A drama that chronicles the lives of five African-American sisters, all officers in the NYPD, as they face the challenges of their high-risk jobs while juggling the responsibilities of marriage, motherhood, and family. Raised in the borough of Queens by working-class parents, the Kendrick sisters are New York’s finest.
Team: Pam Veasey will write and executive produce with Robin Roberts and Regina King, who will also direct the pilot.
Cast: Amirah Vanh, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Frances Turner, Michael Beach, Zoe Robins, Aubin Wise, Eric Balfour, Dorian Missick, Gerard Celasco, and Leigh-Ann Rose.

Whiskey Cavalier
A high-octane hour-long action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (Scott Foley), codename: “WHISKEY CAVALIER,” who, following an emotional breakup, is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (Lauren Cohan), codename: “FIERY TRIBUNE.” Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny, heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance, and office politics.
Team: Dave Hemingson will write and executive produce with Bill Lawrence, Jeff Ingold and Peter Atencio, who will direct the pilot. Foley will also produce.

COMEDY

The Greatest American Hero
Inspired by the 1980s TV show of the same name, the project centers around Meera (Hannah Simone), a 30-year-old woman who loves tequila and karaoke and has spent her life searching and failing to find meaning, much to the chagrin of her traditional Indian-American family. An inexplicable event occurs that will change the course of Meera’s life forever: She is entrusted with a super suit to protect the planet. Meera may have finally found purpose, but the world has never been in more unreliable hands.
Team: Rachna Fruchbom will write and executive produce with Nahnatchka Khan, Mandy Summers, and Tawnia McKiernan. Christine Gernon will direct the pilot.

Man of the House
A multi-camera hybrid family comedy about two recently divorced sisters who decide to move in together to raise their kids under one roof. The oldest kid and only son is left to figure out what manhood means in a world where he’s now completely surrounded by women.
Team: Frank Pines and Vijal Patel will write and executive produce with Kerry Washington, Gail Berman, Joe Earley, and Pilar Savone.
Cast: Alyson Hannigan, Jake Short, Leslie Bibb, Jenny Ortega, Reece Caddell.

Most Likely To
In high school, Liz Cooney (Lesli Margherita) had everything and Markie McQueen (Yvette Nicole Brown) had nothing. Twenty years later, they’re reunited under the same roof as single moms and unlikely housemates.
Team: Diablo Cody will write and executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Pam Fryman, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Yvette Nicole Brown, Lesli Margherita, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Ashton Arbab, Mia Allan, Ella Allan, Donald Faison, and Max Jenkins.

Single Parents
A group of dysfunctional single parents lean on each other as they raise their kids, look for love, and ultimately realize survival is only possible with the help of each other.
Team: JJ Philbin and Liz Meriwether will write and executive produce with Katherine Pope. Jason Winer will direct the pilot.
Cast: Taran Killam, Leighton Meester, Jake Choi, Brad Garrett, Kimrie Lewis, Marlow Barkley, Tyler Wladis, Sadie Hazelett, Grace Hazelett, and Devin Campbell.

Southern Hospitality
Rebecca (Annaleigh Ashford) left her family’s Texas ranch years ago to work at an upscale hotel in New York, but after being promised ownership of the ranch by her smooth-talking cowboy dad Beau (John Larroquette), she’s back and ready to utilize her big city tactics to turn their rustic ranch into a destination spot oozing Southern hospitality. Getting her siblings to fall in line with her vision will be the real thorn in Rebecca’s side. And that’s going to be even harder once Beau reveals a life-changing family secret.
Team: Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer will write and executive produce. Tristram Shapeero will direct the pilot.

Steps
Four adults in three houses raise three kids after two divorces… together. Based on the Swedish format, Bonus Family.

Untitled Bobby Bowman Project
Inspired in part by Bobby’s childhood growing up with a father with mental illness, this uplifting single-camera comedy features a dysfunctional family that perseveres despite their differences and finds happiness in unexpected places.
Team: Bobby Bowman will write and executive produce with Dawn Ostroff, Jon Koa, Greg Walter, and Kari Lizer. Ian Fitzgibbon will direct the pilot.
Cast: Brooke Elliott, Lilla Crawford, Carson E. White, Brenna D’Amico, Johnny Sneed, and Will Kindrachuk.

Untitled Justin Noble Project
Based on the book and blog How May We Hate You, this workplace ensemble comedy centers on two guest service associates at a high-end resort and the co-workers and guests that they’re stuck with for 8 to 16 hours a day.
Team: Justin Noble will write and executive produce with Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, Will Gluck, Richard Schwartz, and Wendi Trilling. Kat Dennings is attached as a producer. Will Gluck will direct the pilot.

Untitled Tim Doyle Project
Set in the 1970s, an Irish-Catholic family with a working-class dad, traditional mom, and eight boisterous sons navigates changes big and small during one of America’s most turbulent decades.
Team: Tim Doyle will write and executive produce. Randall Einhorn will direct the pilot.

Cagney and Lacey
In this reboot of the iconic series, two female police detectives (Sarah Drew, Michelle Hurd) and friends keep the streets of L.A. safe.

Chiefs
The professional and personal lives of three driven, successful, but very different women who are each chief of police of their own precincts in L.A. County.
Team: David Hudgins will write and executive produce with Carol Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, and co-executive producer Zetna Fuentes, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Aunjanue Ellis, Alana De La Garza, Jorja Fox, Demetrius Grosse, and Michael Trucco.

The Code
The military’s brightest minds take on our country’s toughest challenges, inside the courtroom and out, where each attorney is trained as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, an investigator — and a Marine.
Team: Craig Sweeny will write the teleplay from a story by Sweeny and Craig Tunk and executive produce with Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, and Marc Webb, who will direct the pilot.

F.B.I. (straight to series)
About the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Team: Craig Turk will write and executive produce with Dick Wolf, Arthur W. Forney, Peter Jankowski and Niels Arden Opley, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Missy Peregrym, Zeeko Zaki, Connie Nielsen, Jeremy Sisto and Ebonee Noel.

God Friended Me
Questions of faith, existence, and science are explored in this humorous, uplifting series about an outspoken atheist (Brandon Micheal Hall) whose life is turned upside down when he is “friended” by God on Facebook. Unwittingly, he becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him.
Team: Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt will write and executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Marcos Siega, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Brandon Micheal Hall, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie, Joe Morton, and Violett Beane.

L.A. Confidential
James Ellroy’s classic novel gets a thoroughly 2018 treatment in terms of tone, music, and style as the paths of three homicide detectives, a female reporter, and an up-and-coming actress intersect while the detectives pursue a sadistic serial killer among the secrets and lies of gritty, glamorous 1950s Los Angeles.
Team: Jordan Harper will write and executive produce with Anna Fricke, Arnon Milchan, and Michael Dinner, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Brian J. Smith, Walton Goggins, Mark Webber, Shea Whigham, Alana Arenas, and Sarah Jones.

Magnum P.I.
An update of the classic television series set in Hawaii, Magnum P.I. follows Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez), a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator.
Team: Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim will write and executive produce with John Davis, John Fox, Danielle Woodrow, and Justin Lin, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Stephen Hill, and Zachary Knighton.

Main Justice
Centered around the U.S. Attorney General (Bokeem Woodbine), the project takes viewers into the tumultuous world of the Department of Justice where he takes on the biggest legal and investigative cases in the country. Inspired by the life and work of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
Team: Sascha Penn will write and executive produce with Holder, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Sunil Nayar, and David Semel, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Bokeem Woodbine, Timothy Hutton, Peter Gallagher, Deborah Ayorinde, and Aubrey Dollar.

Murder
This fresh take on the investigative drama explores crime through the unique and often conflicting perspectives of cops and killers, witnesses and victims, friends and family. Shot like a true-crime documentary, the series invites the audience inside the emotional journey of an investigation, allowing them to discern the truth and judge the suspects’ guilt or innocence for themselves.
Team: Amanda Green will write and executive produce with Dan Lin, co-executive producer Lindsey Liberatore, and Anthony Hemingway, who will direct the pilot.
Cast: Teyonah Parris, Michael Chiklis, Luna Lauren Velez, Pallavi Sharda, Leonard Roberts, Andrea Demetriades, and Jennifer Mudge.

Red Line
After a white cop in Chicago mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor, we follow three different families who all have connections with the case as the story is told from each perspective.
Team: Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss will write and co-executive produce with executive producers Ava Duvernay, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter.
Cast: Noah Wyle, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Aliyah Royale, Noel Fisher, Michael Patrick Thornton, Vinny Chhibber, Howard Charles, and Elizabeth Laidlaw.

COMEDY

25
Twenty-something Kyle (Matt Shively) comes to Austin to finally convince his old best friend (Emily Osment) from camp they are perfect for each other. Unfortunately, she just got engaged. A lot of guys would give up; Kyle is not one of those guys. But to Kyle’s surprise, even though he came to town looking for “the one,” he might end up with much more than that.
Team: Hilary Winston will write and executive produce with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Chris Koch, who will direct the pilot.

Fam
A woman’s (Nina Dobrev) dreams of an upstanding life with her new fiancé and his upstanding family are dashed when her younger half-sister (Odessa Adlon) comes to live with her to escape their trainwreck of a father.
Team: Corinne Kingsbury will write and executive produce with Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, Wendi Trilling, and Scott Ellis, who will direct the pilot.

History of Them
A multi-cultural ensemble about how two friends, Luna (Ana Villafañe) and Adam (Brett Dier), meet and fall in love, using the couple’s social media as a guide.
Team: Gloria Calderon Kellett will write and executive produce with Marc Provissiero and Pamela Fryman, who will direct the pilot.

I Mom So Hard
Based on the popular web series #IMOMSOHARD, two moms (Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley) show how their friendship gets them through being wives and mothers.
Team: Michelle Nader will write and executive produce with co-writers and co-executive producers Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, and executive producers Rob Thomas, Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge, and Dan Scardino, who will direct the pilot.

Murphy Brown (straight to series)
Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen) returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news, and a very different political and cultural climate.
Team: Diane English will write and executive produce with Bergen. Pam Fryman will executive produce and direct the pilot.

Pandas in New York
A family of Indian doctors with a successful group practice in New York City embark on a project to arrange their youngest son’s life, unaware he’s made plans of his own.
Team: Ajay Sahgal will write and executive produce with Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor, and Wendi Trilling. Mark Cendrowski will direct the pilot.
Cast: Dhruv Singh, Ashley Tisdale, Nishi Munshi, Hina Abdullah, Dan O’Brien, Bernard White, Gita Reddy, and Mike Castle.

Untitled Austen Earl and Tim McAuliffe Project
A 30-something couple tired of their mundane life start to reconnect with their younger, cooler selves when an emerging pop star (Felix Mallard), who is drawn to their super normal suburban life, moves in.
Team: Tim McAuliffe and Austen Earl will write and executive produce with Ben Winston, Michael Rotenberg, and Jonathan Berry. Phill Lewis will direct the pilot.

Welcome to the Neighborhood
The nicest guy (Josh Lawson) in the Midwest moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness.

• Charmed
  A reboot of The WB drama, the project follows three sisters in a college town who, after the tragic death of their mother, are stunned to discover they are witches. Soon this powerful threesome must stand together to fight the everyday and supernatural battles that all modern witches must face: from vanquishing powerful demons to toppling the patriarchy.
• Team: Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin will write and executive produce with Jennie Urman, Ben Silverman, and Brad Silberling, who will also direct the pilot.

Team: April Blair will write and executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Rob Hardy, who will direct the pilot. Robbie Rogers will serve as a producer on the project, which is inspired by the life of pro football player Spencer Paysinger.

Untitled Roswell Project
After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter (Jeanine Mason) of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer (Nathan Parsons): He’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

A romantic musical drama that looks at a disparate group of interconnected people in contemporary Los Angeles through the lens of the music that defines who they are. Mixtape captures the different stages of love, exploring if time can heal a broken heart and if love can withstand life’s tragedies.

The Passage
Based on author Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy of the same name, The Passage is an epic, character-driven thriller about a secret government medical facility experimenting with a dangerous virus that could either cure all disease or cause the downfall of the human race. The series focuses on a 10-year-old girl named Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney), who is chosen to be a test subject for this experiment, and Brad Wolgast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the federal agent who becomes her surrogate father as he tries to protect her.
Team: Liz Heldens will write and executive produce with Matt Reeves, Adam Kassan, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Justin Cronin, and Jason Ensler, who will direct the pilot with Marcos Siega.

Untitled David Elliot and Danny Strong Project
A legal drama set in a wrongful conviction firm. Led by a fierce and fearless female lawyer (Rachelle Lefevre) with a hunger for justice, the team reopens investigations, putting their own lives in danger to exonerate the innocent that were “proven” guilty. The show’s lead draws motivation from her infamous past; as a young adult, she was found guilty and later exonerated in a high-profile case in which she became a tabloid sensation, household name, and national celebrity. While she’s seen by some as a hero and a victim, her bold and bullish tactics garner her some enemies — one of whom will do anything to see her go down for a crime we know she did not commit. The show sees her defend others as she fights to maintain her own innocence.

Culture Clash
Based on the Endemol Shine Israel format Nevsu: A Young Multi-Cultural Couple, the project follows a man from a bombastic African family who don’t have a word in their native language for “privacy” and his fiancée from a Midwestern family who try to build a normal life together — though nobody can agree on what “normal” means.
Team: Vali Chandrasekaran will write and executive produce with Lee Daniels, Pam Williams, Marc Velez, Yossi Vassa, Shai Ben-Afar, and Liat Shavit. Trent O’Donnell will direct the pilot.

Free-spirited former DEA agent Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union), who originated in Bad Boys 2, has a fresh start in her new job as an LAPD detective. She’s partnered with Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy. These two have totally different lifestyles and approaches, but they both are at the top of their fields in this action-packed, character-driven procedural.

Inspired by the memoir of Dr. Eric Manheimer, Twelve Patients: Life & Death at Bellevue Hospital, this character-driven medical drama follows the new director (Ryan Eggold) of a New York hospital whose maverick approach disrupts the status quo while always prioritizing patient care. The hospital is the only one in the world that has the capability to treat Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers Island, and the president of the United States all under one roof.
