Ashton Kutcher stuns Ellen DeGeneres with huge donation to her wildlife charity

Ellen DeGeneres might be used to dolling out generous gifts, but she herself was surprised with a sizable present on Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

When Ashton Kutcher stopped by the host’s talk show unannounced, she was initially puzzled, then ultimately, completely lost for words. During the unplanned appearance, Kutcher, alongside his investment partner Guy Oseary, explained that they’d recently invested in a tech company called Ripple and had discovered that the organization was invested in being an ethical company and giving a portion of their platform to those “who are doing good in the world.” Kutcher just happened to have the perfect person doing good in the world in mind…

“We talked to Chris and Brad (executives at Ripple) and we said, ‘There’s this amazing human being and all they ever do is think about other people they can give to,” says Kutcher referencing his friend, DeGeneres. “Whether it’s in New Orleans, whether it’s in Montecito, whether it’s the people that come here, the people out there, you’re always thinking about everyone else and we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you. And we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you. So on behalf of Ripple, we’d like to give you four million dollars.”

The money was intended for The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, an organization DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi established back in February as a birthday gift to her spouse, which works to save gorillas in Rwanda by building a center to protect and study the endangered species.

“That was the most amazing thing,” DeGeneres told Kutcher and Oseary, clearly overcome with gratitude. “Thank you. I love you both so much, you know that.”
