None of the past year’s pop culture moments were safe in Tiffany Haddish’s gangbusters opening to the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The comedian and actress kicked off the 2018 ceremony with a sketch placing herself within the world of Black Panther. When T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) called out for a challenger up to the task of hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards, Haddish stepped forward to issue her challenge, “to grapefruit a banana like [she] did in Girls Trip,a reference to her infamous onscreen fruit-related sex act. Haddish also joked about her love of Groupon, saying she got 40 percent off at the Wakanda Sheraton from the popular digital coupon website of which she is now a spokesperson.

The segment also included a Girls Trip reunion with Queen Latifah (who wore an outfit almost exactly like Angela Bassett’s Queen Ramonda costume) and Jada Pinkett Smith joining the proceedings. The two women suggested they didn’t need to take a hosting gig because they got paid “dumb money” for their work in Girls Trip.

Haddish then went on to do a performance of “Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls” before beating T’Challa in the challenge — but not without complimenting his legs that smelled like “coconut butter and $100 million.”

Once the Black Panther sketch ended, Haddish also paid tribute to Cardi B, riffing on her hit song “Bodak Yellow,” rewriting the lyrics to comment on her shoes, saying “This is rented, these is not my size.” Fittingly, Haddish then appeared in the white Alexander McQueen dress from the Girls Trip premiere she has worn on Saturday Night Live, to the Oscars, and more.

Haddish then turned her attention to Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan, saying, “You probably look at a girl and get her pregnant right there on eyesight.” She then proceeded to execute a sight gag in a nod to Cardi B’s pregnancy reveal on SNL, suddenly gaining a pregnancy bump, which she called the “first ever immaculate conception and pregnancy reveal all at the same time.”

Her jokes continued a mile a minute, referencing everything from The Quiet Place to the fact that she knows who bit Beyoncé.

The Girls Trip star later took home the award for Best Comedic Performance. See the full list of this year’s winner’s here.
