Marcia Gay Harden wants her Law & Order: SVU character to return again

Marcia Gay Harden wants to make another return to Law & Order: SVU's criminal justice system.

During an appearance on PeopleTV's Couch Surfing series, the Oscar-winning actress reflected on her recurring guest role on the hit NBC procedural—and made a pitch to Law & Order creator Dick Wolf for a way to continue her character's story.

Harden has played Dana Lewis on SVU on four different occasions—first appearing in a chilling 2005 episode where it initially appeared she was part of a white supremacist group before she ultimately revealed herself as an undercover FBI agent. Her last appearance on the show was in 2013 when it was discovered that Dana murdered her husband's mistress and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

That last turn of events was a shock for Harden. "They gave me the script and I was like, no! Dana isn't somebody who would murder somebody and cover it up all those years," she told Couch Surfing host Lola Ogunnaike. "She wouldn't do that."

Harden said did the episode because she loves the character, but she hopes Dana will return again and can redeem herself. "I personally still think—Dick Wolf, I'm talking to you right now—I think we need to bust Dana out of prison, find out it was all a ruse, that she never did murder that person but she's been undercover in prison all this time," she said. "And then let's have another episode!"
