Psych: The Movie 2 casts Joel McHale as a mysterious character from [SPOILER]'s past

C’mon son! Psych: The Movie 2 has added two guest stars.

EW has confirmed that Joel McHale will make a special guest appearance as a mysterious character from Lassiter’s (Timothy Omundson) past. Omundson teased the Community alum’s guest role on Twitter over the weekend.

Westworld‘s Jimmi Simpson will also reprise his role as Mary Lightly. While his character died in the season 4 finale, Simpson returned for both the season 4 and 5 finales, “Psych The Musical,” and most-recentlyPsych: The Movie, which featured a dream sequence in which Simpson sang a cover of Gin Blossoms’ “Allison Road” with James Roday, who plays fake psychic detective Shawn Spencer.

Greenlit almost two years after the first Psych reunion film, Psych: The Movie 2 sees Shaun, Gus (Dulé Hill) and the rest of the gang return to Santa Barbara to help Lassiter out of a pickle.

Read the full logline below:

“The cast reunites once again when Santa Barbara Police Chief Carlton Lassiter (Omundson) is ambushed on the job and left for dead. In a vintage Psych-style Hitchcockian nod, he begins to see impossible happenings around his recovery clinic. Shawn (Roday) and Gus (Hill) return to Lassie’s side in Santa Barbara and are forced to navigate the personal, the professional, and possibly the supernatural. Separated from their new lives in San Francisco, our heroes find themselves unwelcome in their old stomping grounds as they secretly untangle a twisted case without the benefit of the police, their loved ones, or the quality sourdough bakeries of the Bay Area. What they uncover will change the course of their relationships forever.”

Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, and Corbin Bernsen are also set to return for the movie, which was written by Roday, Andy Berman, and creator Steve Franks. Psych: The Movie 2 is currently in production and will air on USA Network.
