Only A Fine Day

I'd like to go with Photography, but there are only 48 weeks involved until August 1, 2024.
Did you mean to end on the first of August or do you want to end on the last of August?

August 30th would be a FULL year of 52 weeks.

I'm in, Medium will be Digital Art for me.

Lucia Waterson

I will try and i choose traditional medium, please, specifically Watercolor and pencils.

Roger Swezey

As a gluten for punishment, I will struggle with this digital stylus and tablet I recently bought.

By the end of the year, I shall hope to have control of this medium.

It doesn't seem to be made for left-handed artists.

The theme works for me because I do primarily landscapes and seascapes.

So, I'll give this one a try. Photography.

Nina Prommer

@Roger, nothing is made for left handed creatives...... you might however find a setting that lets you switch from right to left

oh well, here we go, I am signing up with Photography - after doing the yearly one a day I guess I should manage the one a week, thank you

It's 1 sept to 1 August next year. Each of those days of the first day

Roger, what tablet are you using

Roger Swezey

Abbie and Nina

UGEE M708.

Since, I'm currently using the stylus as a "mouse" with gimp. I didn't see a need to install a program.

Now, after seeing the introductory video again, I see that I need the program to change over to left-handed.

Oh good. You're able to do that?

Elisabeth Lucas

And I will go with digital art

Roger Swezey

Abbie,

This befuddled old coot, mistakenly downloaded the program five times....Once I realized that , I deleted four of them....Then opened the fifth...Went through the procedure proscribed.

BUT I DON'T SEE THE RESULTS

As indicated on the video, where supposedly I can convert to "Left-Handed"

The more I delve into this digital universe, the more frustrated I become

I suppose that I will have to bother my good friend again to sit by me, here in front of this computer, to, with a few clicks, solve this new problem

@Mary Lee, 24 people are still in. :)

This challenge is my main objective to make sure I stay in! I really want to finish this one so if I don't, you guys know I might have kicked the bucket... but hopefully not! LOL

I was under the weather yesterday but still had to get my image in so I don't forget!

PS. I feel much better today! PTL!

Mary Lee Dereske

Shelli, I'm right there with you. I want to finish this one. It's on my electronic calendar and I delete it for the week once it's complete. Got a little nervous when traveling recently.

All right to the two dozen brave artists out there!

Lucia Waterson

Even though you were not very well, Shelli, you did so well with your entry!

Gaby Ethington

Gentle reminder for those who have not posted yet for week 46, just a little over 24 hours left in this week.

Gaby Ethington

Week 47 has started. You all that were in are still in!

Lucia Waterson

Ed Meredith

Bravo everyone... I didn't think I was going to make it this week,, lotsa obstacles in my way.

46 down and 6 to go. Well, twelve for me... lol

Gaby Ethington

Less than 21 hours left for week 47, for those of you who have not posted yet.

Mo Barton

Made it !!

Nearly forgot...was thinking about the 6 day SUMMER Challenge and suddenly remembered I needed to edit and post for the weekly challenge!

Gaby Ethington

Week 48 has started, If you missed week 47, I am so sorry you are out. :(

Mary Bedy

For some reason this challenge has seemed short to me even though we're in week 48. Maybe it's because I did the every day 365 challenge (and didn't miss a day, by the way), but this one went by fast. Only four weeks to go!

I'm glad I picked drawing. It made me get out the pencils that were languishing in a drawer because of my work schedule the past over 40 years. Now I realize how much I missed drawing. There's only one drawing I posted in this challenge that completely bugs the heck out of me and I wish I had done a better job, but such is life, we can't always be at our best. I am NOT the greatest drawing master on the planet and certainly not in this group, but I surely have enjoyed just giving it a valiant effort. I've kind of run out of reference photos that I'm drawn to to draw (pun intended), so I'm going to pull out my old film photo albums and see what I can scrounge up from my vacations for the last four drawings....there has to be something in there that would "translate" to pencil or ink.

Good work everybody!!!

Renata Natale

I agree Mary, does seem to have gone by so fast. I was worried in the beginning I wouldn't make it. I would do this again. Really enjoyed it and seeing everyone's work. Thank you for the challenge

Gaby Ethington

Reminder for those who have not posted for this week, less than 22 hours left in week 48.

Gaby Ethington

Week 49 has started, everyone that was in is still in! :)

Home stretch, you guys, hang in there!

Shelli Fitzpatrick

Whew! only 4 more weeks? really? wait 3, math is not my strong point obviously... unless you mean fractals. LOL

Gaby Ethington

Ha, well, really 4, Shelli, this week inclusive. :)

Shelli Fitzpatrick

oh yes! I was right the first time, YAY! lol

Onward! Come on everybody, we nearly have it!

Ed Meredith

YAY is right Shelli, three to go, well six for me.

I'm ready for a break… been kind of running out of ideas trying to thematically link each
week's drawing and sculpture and except for a couple of weeks I think I have done that successfully.
Helpfully many ideas come from current events.

I have placed this and all the challenges I participated in this year into their own galleries
and in chronological order. If anyone is interested: this "One a Week" challenge link is: https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/ed-meredith?tab=artworkgalleries&artworkgalleryid=1138866

I’m thinking of making a show and tell Blurb or LULU coffee table book of the challenge for myself
and probably a few copies for some close friends who would appreciate it as a Christmas gift…

Each facing page will be the drawing and sculpture of the week.
That would be 104 pages just for the images.
OMG $$$$$ maybe I’ll just text or put the link in a card… lol

Anyway this has been a truly fun and invigorating challenge for me and I have thoroughly
enjoyed everyone's art entries... for a can you believe it… an entire YEAR!!!

Gaby Ethington

That's a great idea, Ed, of making a gallery collection of those images! A book is a cool idea too!

Shelli Fitzpatrick

borrowing an idea from Abbie, it would be cool to have a collage of every image submitted to this challenge if all the participating artists were in agreement. I don't know who would put it together though... I submitted some of my images years ago to a challenge an Instagram group I belonged to did and when the collage was finished it was displayed in a brand new hotel in Toronto.

Trying to find a few links but it was back in 2012 I think so....

Ha! I found one!

https://www.dpreview.com/news/1415592769/what-is-jj-tag-on-instagraml

That was my first time doing a collaborative work and five of my images are in there somewhere.

GJ Glorijean

@Shelli, Very cool photo montage/collage... Curious was everyone that participated name mentioned as part of the credits & display? GJ

Gaby Ethington

For those who have not posted yet for this week, just a little over 25 hours left! :)

@Shelli, Wow, that was an amazing feat! Wondering what size it would be with the images for this challenge, provided everyone agreed.

Shelli Fitzpatrick

Thanks GJ and yes they did mention all of us at the ALT hotel display. I think it was on a separate wall.

Gaby, I have no idea what size it would end up being for all of us or the logistics of putting it all together either. It might be too much... LOL

I know that the ALT hotel mural took a few months for them to assemble. I was impressed with how nice it ended up looking!

Gaby Ethington

Week 50 has started, everyone that was in, is still in! :)

You all are doing great!

GJ Glorijean
