This Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) was seen near Tucson, Arizona as it landed among desert rocks and boulders on a piece of wood. While not rare, these pretty red and black songbirds are not common either, so it was a special treat to spot this one in flight with his wings and feet outstretched as he prepares to land. It is a way of smoking tobacco through a bowl with a hose or tube joined on. The tube has a mouthpiece that the smoker uses to breath in the smoke.

Inspired by the movie of THE BLACK STALLION, an American adventure film based on the 1941 classic children's novel of the same name by Walter Farley. The film starts in 1946, five years after the book was published. It tells the story of Alec Ramsey, who is shipwrecked on a deserted island with a wild Arabian stallion whom he befriends. After being rescued, they are set on entering a race challenging two champion horses.

The Arthur J. Ravenel Jr. Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over the Cooper River in South Carolina, connecting downtown Historic Charleston to the Mount Pleasant area. In our recent visit to Mount Pleasant, we had the pleasure of seeing a glorious sunset over the Ravenel Bridge. This photograph was taken at twilight, not long after the sun had gone down. Memories abound!

Freedom. Just one word... It means so many different things to each of us. In honor of Independence Day here in North East Tennessee, there was a beautiful fireworks display over the lake near our home. The fireworks extravanganza celebrated the holiday in the grandest way, and was probably one of the most stunning fireworks display I’ve ever seen. I’m so very patriotic at heart, so I superimposed one of my images of the U.S. flag with a huge spotlight on it. Hope you enjoy this new composite artwork!

A small Green Heron (Butorides virescens) is seen perching on the roots of Mangrove trees along the Marsh Trail in Ten Thousand Islands NWR, Florida, just off the Tamiami Trail. Mangrove forests have interesting and intricate root system which create shelter and are a foraging haven for wading birds such as the Green Heron. This swampy wetland is a protected area and is teeming with wildlife, lush vegetation, and brackish water - and a walk along the trail, also known as the Oil Pad Trail, will afford a view of some spectacular animals close up. A Photograph of Niagara Falls in the Icy Winter 2019 right before I proposed to my wife. It was part frozen and the sun was rising casting beautiful light across the falling waters and ice. It was freezing but worth it. I took this photo in long exposure and experimented with different lengths for different levels of flow. This one was the one I loved the most. You can see this and more at my site!

Thank you for the contest votes of my "Lake Superior Ice Wave" by Patti Deters. Massive ice formation on the shores of Lake Superior in Minnesota. It looks like a big wave froze instantaneously as it came crashing up against the rocks. It looks a bit like a mountain or a walrus ice sculpture. The gloomy gray sky and barren landscape gives it a dystopian, other-worldly feel, like it is on the moon, somewhere in the arctic, or even on another planet!
