Kenza Layli, created by a team of programmers, is the winner in the world’s first AI beauty pageant. Specifics are in paragraph under the second image.

As my Oma used to say "Kanst du das sowas mal vorstellen?!" (Can you imagine something like that?)
I'd love to hear what she has to say about all of this. Case in point, she thought the Beatles were an abomination. LOL

I suppose in virtual reality one can have whatever one wants.
And that would include holding a bunch of unfocused flowers

I was looking for squishy fingers and other aberrations.
Apparently, bokeh can be as freewheeling in AI as it can be in photography.

Look at all the jobs AI is taking away... Now who will solve all the worlds problems?

Que sera, sera .... Shades of Aldous Huxley's 1932 sci-fi dystopian novel Brave New World.
Who can say. We'll know if, and when we get there.

I think it would only be fair if the AI can also choose the winner. And they can argue their viewpoints.

What if the the AI winner will smoke AI generated pot at some point in the future? Will it lose all it's AI endorsements? Are the fines in crypto currency?
(happens in real life on occasion)

I wonder if future AI citizens will be annoyed when a better version of AI comes out to replace them.

I agree with Rudy... "just when I thought I saw it all............" Pretty scary how real they look!

There are all manner of ramifications concerning the rise of AI videos & images.
On the other hand — there are AI scanners detecting weapons at the entrances of the adult emergency department, and the Crisis Response Centre at our local city hospital.

Carmen,

What about?
AI scanners predicting weapons

Roger — clarify "AI scanners predicting weapons."
Airport AI Security Technology is also appreciated by some.

Roger,
By AI scanner that means the scanner AI software saw something that a TSA agent might not. TSA agents are famous for ignoring what is going on.
AI is now used to scan chest X-rays because doctors miss little things in the liver or pancreas that are cancer.
In other words, mundane endless jobs are delegated to AI.
Other strides for AI in molecular medicine are far more complex. Putting different human-made research studies together with the patient's DNA to create tailored treatments. Researches do not know what other researchers have accomplished, AI searches it out to solve problems.

Roger,
That could happen, as it already does in many aspects of life that are not AI related.

The numbers are important.
Here are two quotes from the mentioned article.
"With nearly 200,000 Instagram followers, and a further 45,000 on TikTok, Layli is entirely AI-generated."
"The inaugural Miss AI contest opened in spring, drawing entries from some 1,500 AI programmers around the world."
It looks like in 2024 an AI world started to exist on its own.

That's why I mentioned the specifics in the article link I posted.
Imagine being able to witness all the teams' collaborations. The talents and skills of the AI Programmers & Developers are what AI artists depend on.
AI's multi-faceted, exponential growth is well underway.

Yuri,
I have found my art on TT takes time to gain followers. By making all sorts of comments elsewhere that have nothing to do with the art I can get attention and gain followers. There is nothing special enough about most art or most AI art gain a lot of followers. People go about their days not caring. That said make a comment they like somewhere and they follow back to the profile. They follow after the first impression. Not the art.
If the AI artists are also making comments or lightly using bots to make comments that is how the following is ballooned.
Every day I make some forceful political comment elsewhere on TT I have two followers the next day. It is the only way. It works like a charm. Just a recent observation.
Same with the art. If the comment on it is popular, the verbiage, the likes go up a lot. Offer something for free and the likes go way up.

The internet has always been about breadcrumbs. The trick is to get them to buy the bread...
As for the AI beauty pageant - I saw this a few days back and thought it was a bit weird, IMHO, but then we have fantasy football leagues, etc., so I guess it's to be expected.

yeah you can go to the local once a year carnival to ride the teacups. Not exactly getting your kids closer to nature or reality. Perhaps that what we want in entertainment? Who da thunk it?

Breadcrumbs and clickbait. Also, lest we forget: gaslighting.

"The internet has always been about breadcrumbs."
"Breadcrumbs and clickbait. Also, lest we forget: gaslighting."
This all existed long before the internet. The internet just allows instant feedback into the collective: strengthening the hive mind and educating the machine learners.
"Research online shows AI Programmers/Developers annual average salary of $100,000.+ (USD)"
let's put this into perspective:
Average U.S. household income in 2022: $105,555
The average U.S. household income in 2022 was $105,555, while the median U.S. household income was $74,580.

Re: let’s put this in perspective
Internet, or otherwise — human inclination to breadcrumb trails, bait and gaslighting is a given.
It is what it is.
Average
The average of one particular occupation’s annual salary doesn’t equate with average, or median household income.

In relative terms programmers are not as far ahead of the game today.
But there are talent programmers way ahead of their peers

As of May 2023, the median annual salary for computer programmers in the United States was $99,700, with the lowest 10% earning less than $58,950 and the highest 10% earning more than $167,230. This median wage is the point at which half of workers in an occupation earn more than that amount and half earn less.
Programming used not be an average income.
Programmers come with differing skill levels. Some are excellent. Most programmers take up space and are inept.
As labor in business whittled down to fewer heads and more computers the value of computers whittles down. Instead of replacing hundreds of workers with a single worker equipped with a PC, now we have a machine replacing another machine. That is not the same productivity boost.
AI until recently had the lowest IRR of any technology wave. Now that is hard to measure because it has not been well studied how much ChatGPT and the others are doing for the economy. I doubt it is worth the investment outside of medical research which may have tremendous gains.

Reference links for your source material/opinion would be appropriate.
Acronyms can be deadweight in crafting coherent response.
For example, not including that IRR is Internal rate of return.
Since this thread has run its course, I opt to close now before discussion wanders further off topic.
