The Gray Edge

so once I get through uploading my image and go to canvas prints poster prints that area it keeps showing up with a gray edge. Does the printing company fix this before it goes out to clients or do the clients receive the image with this gray line?

Hi Jennifer,

You need to crop that grey edge out and re-upload that image -

You should also set your phone , camera or scanner to the largest image - your image can only print a 12 x 9 and will not work on other larger products.

If you sell an image FAA will refuse to print it if the image shows.......

Pixellation
Blockiness
Noise
Bad cropping
Blurriness not in keeping with the image (ie not meant to be there)
normal font signature (Arial, Times New Roman etc)
signature cropped half off the image
large watermarks
noticeable camera flash
Upsized images

FAA does not do quality control until you sell so, it is your responsibility to quality control your images carefully before uploading. You do this by zooming in using a photo editor to 100% and then carefully going over the image, checking for the above defects

Thank you David,

I did crop it out but when arriving spon the page for canvas prints it arrived again. Perhaps the image is just not large enough. I wish they had a feature “scale to fit”

FAA displays the file you uploaded. It is in your file if it shows a grey edge (and it does).

You can see it as big as life when you look at the page showing your thumbnails.

Either that, you cropped it, and the system is taking a day or two to show the new upload.

You can see the edge on the canvas page and the thumbnail page but not on the image page

You should also keep in mind that without an avatar, you can not be found in the search once you get the required number of images loaded.

Welcome aboard, and best of luck to you.

Jennifer, you can replace an image without deleting it. it can take about 24 hours or longer for the image replacement to update. One of the quirks of this site.

this is how it is displayed, we all have the gray edge, click on everyone who commented and there is a gray edge, most likely meant to give a shadow to make the images less flat looking or whatever reason it might be

Nina, Jennifer is talking about the grey line on the left side of her image - she needs to crop that off - see the link below -

With some previews there is a gray edge on the left, with others a black edge at the bottom and none on the left. I think it's simply that her image is way too small, like 1100x900 or something, barely enough for greeting cards.

Thank you everyone who replied! I’m excited to come back to find art America to find out that the website is so nice. Looking forward to taking all of my art over here and getting rid of the one I’m paying for!
