Gaza: Israeli warplanes target Gaza school, killing over 100
Gaza - August 10, 2024 At least 100 people were killed and dozens more injured in an Israel attack against a school serving as a shelter for some 3,500 displaced people in Gaza on Saturday. Israeli warplanes targeted the Al-Taba'een School in the Al-Daraj neighborhood in central Gaza City while the displaced people in the school were performing the Fajr prayer, Palestinian medical and security sources said, adding that the victims included women and children. China Media Group(CMG) correspondent arrived later on Saturday and saw the ground and walls were scorched by fire. The air in school was permeated with smell of blood. The local civil defense department had discovered 93 bodies but there were still bodies at site. Rescuers said they would continue their work. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the school compound served as a Hamas and Islamic Jihad military facility, with about 20 Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants, including senior commanders, operating there.
