Gulielmus Iacobus (11 Ianuarii 184226 Augusti 1910) fuit philosophus et psychologus Americanus, medicina assuetus. Qui, primus educator qui academicum psychologiae cursum in Civitatibus Foederatis obtulit,[1] fuit unus ex principalibus philosophorum saeculi undevicensimi exeuntis, a multis unus ex potentissimis philosophis Civitatum Foederatarum habitus, quam ob rem nonnulli eum pater psychologiae Americanae appellaverunt.[2][3][4] Cum Carolo Sanders Peirce et Ioanne Dewey, James aestimatur unus ex maximis personis cum pragmatismo schola philosophica conconsociatis, unusque ex conditoribus psychologiae functionalis agnoscitur. Conspectum philosophicum empirismum radicalem appellatum excoluit. In psychologiam notionem fluminis conscientiae introduxit. Eius opera intellegentes moverunt sicut Henricus Bergson, Aemilius Durkheim, Gulielmus Eduardus Burghardt Du Bois, Edmundus Husserl, Bertrandus Russell, Ludovicus Wittgenstein, Hilarius Putnam, Ricardus Rorty.[5] Inter eius auditores fuit Geretrudis Stein, quam James eius "luculentissimam scholasticam muliebrem" appellavit.[6]

James, ex familia divite ortus, fuit filius Henrici James, theologi Swedenborgiani, fraterque Henrici James, scriptoris prominentis, et Aliciae James, diaristae.
