Tara Sainath received her S.B., M.Eng and PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) from MIT. After her PhD, she spent 5 years at the Speech and Language Algorithms group at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, before joining Google Research. She has served as a Program Chair for ICLR in 2017 and 2018. Also, she has co-organized numerous special sessions and workshops for many speech and machine learning conferences. In addition, she has served as a member of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee (SLTC) as well as the Associate Editor for IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing. She is an IEEE and ISCA Fellow. In addition, she is the recipient of the 2021 IEEE SPS Industrial Innovation Award as well as the 2022 IEEE SPS Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award. She is currently a Principal Research Scientist at Google, working on applications of deep neural networks for automatic speech recognition.

Dr. Xiao-Li Meng
Xiao-Li Meng, the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Harvard Data Science Review and the Whipple V. N. Jones Professor of Statistics, is well known for his depth and breadth in research, his innovation and passion in pedagogy, his vision and effectiveness in administration, as well as for his engaging and entertaining style as a speaker and writer. Meng was named the best statistician under the age of 40 by Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS) in 2001, and he is the recipient of numerous awards and honors for his more than 150 publications in at least a dozen theoretical and methodological areas, as well as in areas of pedagogy and professional development. In 2020, he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has delivered more than 400 research presentations and public speeches on these topics, and he is the author of “The XL-Files,” a thought-provoking and entertaining column in the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) Bulletin. His interests range from the theoretical foundations of statistical inferences (e.g., the interplay among Bayesian, Fiducial, and frequentist perspectives; frameworks for multi-source, multi-phase and multi- resolution inferences) to statistical methods and computation (e.g., posterior predictive p-value; expectation–maximization (EM) algorithm; Markov chain Monte Carlo; bridge and path sampling) to applications in natural, social, and medical sciences and engineering (e.g., complex statistical modeling in astronomy and astrophysics, assessing disparity in mental health services, and quantifying statistical information in genetic studies). Meng received his BS in mathematics from Fudan University in 1982 and his PhD in statistics from Harvard in 1990. He was on the faculty of the University of Chicago from 1991 to 2001 before returning to Harvard, where he served as the Chair of the Department of Statistics (2004–2012) and the Dean of Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (2012–2017).

Sebastian Gehrmann, PhD
Sebastian Gehrmann is the Head of NLP in the Office of the CTO at Bloomberg, where he contributes to and guides the strategy for the development of language technology across the company. His research interests range from natural language generation to model evaluation. He has worked on large language models like BloombergGPT, BLOOM, as well as PaLM and PaLM 2.
Before joining Bloomberg, Sebastian was a senior researcher at Google. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Harvard University.

Stefanie Molin is a software engineer and data scientist at Bloomberg in New York City, where she tackles tough problems in information security, particularly those revolving around data wrangling/visualization, building tools for gathering data, and knowledge sharing. She is also the author of “Hands-On Data Analysis with Pandas,” which is currently in its second edition. She holds a bachelor’s of science degree in operations research from Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, as well as a master’s degree in computer science, with a specialization in machine learning, from Georgia Tech. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world, inventing new recipes, and learning new languages spoken among both people and computers.

Ines Chami is the Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of Numbers Station. She received her Ph.D. in the Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering from Stanford University where she was advised by Prof. Christopher Ré. Prior to attending Stanford, she studied Mathematics and Computer Science at Ecole Centrale Paris. Ines is particularly excited about building intelligent models to automate data-intensive work. Her work spans applications such as knowledge graph construction and data cleaning. For her work on graph representation learning, she won the 2021 Stanford Gene Golub Doctoral Dissertation Award. During her Ph.D. she interned at Microsoft AI and Research and Google Research where she co-authored the graph representation learning chapter of Kevin Murphy’s “Probabilistic Machine Learning: An Introduction” book.

Andras Zsom is an Assistant Professor of the Practice and Director of Graduate Studies at the Data Science Initiative at Brown University, Providence, RI. He is teaching two mandatory courses in the data science master’s program, and helps the students navigate through their studies and curriculum. Maryam Fazel-Zarandi, PhD
Maryam Fazel-Zarandi is currently the Research Engineering Lead and Manager for North America at FAIR Labs – Meta AI, supporting core machine learning and responsible AI researchers. Prior to this, she was the Research Manager for the US east coast NLP, speech, and Core ML areas. Her research interests are in the areas of Natural Language Understanding and Dialog Systems, with current focus on reasoning in large language models and self-supervised learning for speech. Maryam has over 10 years of industry experience and extensive experience in collaborating with engineering teams to deliver science solutions to production. Prior to joining FAIR, Maryam was an Applied Science Manager at Amazon working on Conversational AI for Alexa since 2017, and prior to that, she was a Senior Research Scientist at Nuance Communications, working on open-domain natural language understanding and question answering. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto in 2013.

He also started a collaboration between the Fundamental AI Research department and production teams putting code models in production.

Sinan Ozdemir is a mathematician, data scientist, NLP expert, lecturer, and accomplished author. He is currently applying my extensive knowledge and experience in AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) as the founder and CTO of LoopGenius, transforming the way entrepreneurs and startups market their products and services.
Simultaneously, he is providing advisory services in AI and LLMs to Tola Capital, an innovative investment firm. He has also worked as an AI author for Addison Wesley and Pearson, crafting comprehensive resources that help professionals navigate the complex field of AI and LLMs.
Previously, he served as the Director of Data Science at Directly, where my work significantly influenced their strategic direction. As an official member of the Forbes Technology Council from 2017 to 2021, he shared his insights on AI, machine learning, NLP, and emerging technologies-related business processes.
He holds a B.A. and an M.A. in Pure Mathematics (Algebraic Geometry) from The Johns Hopkins University, and he is an alumnus of the Y Combinator program. Sinan actively contribute to society through various volunteering activities.
