Imagine Dragons rocker Dan Reynolds is a "believer" when it comes to love!

Fresh off the release of his band’s latest album Loom, the musician opens up to PEOPLE in this week’s issue about his bond with girlfriend Minka Kelly, to whom he’s been linked since 2022.

Reynolds, 36, and Kelly, 44, initially met through a mutual friend, and sparks quickly flew over the phone as Reynolds shared songs with the actress, and she returned the favor by sharing rough drafts of her 2023 memoir Tell Me Everything.

“After about a month we met in person, and ever since then, we’ve been attached at the hip,” he says. “Minka and I are in a really happy, healthy relationship.”

The “Eyes Closed” singer credits their success as a couple to “really great therapists,” especially in the wake of his 2022 split from ex-wife Aja Volkman, with whom he shares daughter Arrow, 11, twin girls Gia and Coco, 7, and son Valentine, 4.

Still, he says Kelly fit seamlessly into the family fold — and that his kids are definitely fans of the Euphoria actress.

“The kids really love Minka and really love their mom, and that’s okay. We view it as kind of bonuses to the family: more people to love, more people to help,” he says. “We’ve just been really careful with that and slow with navigating how to bring Minka in to that conversation. She’s done a really incredible job of being sensitive and careful on her end as well.”

The last few years have been full of change for Reynolds, and the star says Imagine Dragons’ new album Loom is essentially his “journal entries” from the past few years, chronicling everything from his divorce to his big move from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

“My world had been turned upside down," he says. "I had just moved to a brand-new city. I was re-finding myself. It was a very transitionary time for me. I really don’t like change, but the sooner you can accept the inevitability of change, the more peaceful life becomes.”

Reynolds is currently gearing up for the Tuesday, July 30 kickoff of Imagine Dragons’ Loom World Tour, which marks the band’s largest North American headlining tour to date since their 2008 inception.

“I think this will be our best record to play live. It has a lot of tempo, a lot of different emotions,” he says. “We’re already in rehearsals for this tour, and I just know — we’ve done this long enough that I’m like, ‘Oh, this is going to be a party, but it’s also going to be cathartic.’

Reynolds concluded: "It’s going to be sad in the right ways, heavy in the right ways, happy in the right ways. It’s going to be a really fun record to tour.”
